It is in the key of C major, beginning with an introduction and section A consisting of arpeggiated chords played as a syncopated almost swing style, in root position study. The remainder of the piece develops to softer legato step shaped melodic phrase, before returning to section A  progressing to the coda in ABA form. This great tune has become stale for me, having been a brass teacher for many years.I have been able to live with it for a bit longer by revisiting the harmony and adding jazz chords.The famous theme presented in an unusual setting!The trumpet part follows the theme straight with a reharmonisation before going into a jazz waltz.It promotes legato playing and is full of dynamics.It should help build stamina and breathing as well as gently extending range for the developing player (rises by step to F sharp).Duration - 2m 50s.

Here, the famous Waltz is arranged for Solo Trumpet and Piano, directly from the orchestral score. The first performance of the ballet was in St Petersburg in 1890. Like his other ballets, Sleeping Beauty was slow to gain popularity with the public and international recognition only came after Tchaikovsky’s death. Included in the single download are nine pages of piano score and an attached four-page part for the solo instrument. Musicians at an upper intermediate level and above will find this ideal for formal and informal performances. The melody is expressive and legato; the accompaniment is challenging in parts with a high tempo throughout. Both parts require dramatic dynamic contrasts and the solo part explores a wide range of the instrument. The overall performance time is around five minutes.
