Waltz for Debby was originally composed by Bill Evans in 1956, and was recorded as a solo on his first album as a leader, New Jazz Conception.
It was dedicated to Bill's niece Debby, who was only 2 years old at the time. However, this song became widely known largely due to its performance on a live album recorded at the Village Vanguard in 1961.
It is especially widely known as Bill Evans' original, and is still popular as a jazz standard with a lovely tune.
This version was arranged for trombone trio, but it may be a little difficult because each part uses a wide range.
Try expressing the adorable expression of young Debby with the gentle tones of the trombone.
