Heroic Music (or Heldenmusik) is a suite of twelve short marches and processionals, written by Georg Philipp Telemann in 1728 and is associated with various attributes of Heroism such as Dignity, Bravery and Alertness. All twelve movements have now been transcribed and arranged by Regis Booksgar to be played by Trumpet Quintets or Brass Quinets. Some of them have also been arranged for Sextets, Septets, Octets, Nonets and Brass Choirs. Some also include a Timpani. They can be purchased individually, or, if you prefer, as a complete set of all twelve at a huge saving.
Any of these selections would be a wonderful addition to any music library. They are perfectly suited to recitals and public peformances, can stand alone as short interludes and are generally well received by audiences. They are suitable for high school and college students but professional musicians would also enjoy playing these arrangements. These selections are some of the many arrangements from The Regis Bookshar Trumpet Ensemble's extensive music library which are being made available for the first time. In the past, these compositions have often been performed by a soloist playing on a Piccolo Trumpet, but these new arrangements are Bb Trumpet friendly as one player stated after playing through them, making them much easier for most high school students.
This selection, La Rejouissance (from Heroic Music), is arranged for a Brass Choir, with parts for 3 Bb Trumpets, 1 French Horn, 1 Trombone, 1 Euphonium and 1 Tuba, and is associated with the heroic quality of Joy. There is also a version which includes a Timpani, if you would prefer. The parts may be doubled as needed. Included are a score and a complete set of parts (15 pages).
Many of these selections are readily available for a wide variety of instrumental ensembles. Please take the time to look for other versions of this composition. You may find something else that may also suit your needs. I would also encourage you to search for other arrangements by Regis Bookshar, as well, as there are numerous selections in a variety of styles, also available for purchase. You may find something else which might interest you. Please continue to check periodically because new arrangements are being added as often as possible. Everyone knows this fun, rollicking piece; and it's just as much fun to play as it is to listen to.  This takes pretty good players in both quintets, but all the long lines are split between the pairs of players, there's lots of breathing room, and it's a great chance to practice thematic hand-offs.  If you'e getting together with another brass quintet and looking for a great piece to put together fairly easily, this is it.

This is a great piece of patriotic music for all times of celebrating our freedom and our flag. The driving rhythm starts at the first measure and works its way throughout the piece to a reference of My country 'tis of thee… just before the rousing finish.

Every instrument of the brass quintet is featured with melodies, doubling, unisons and solos. For performance practice emphasis should be on ending notes as written for a crisp presentation.

The arrangement of this music enables a brass quintet and audience to experience one of the great songs from the late 1960's when long hair and hippies, etc. were in..  The rhythms are fun and challenging, and everybody has something unique and significant to contribute to the music.  It is difficult to avoid being captivated and drawn in to the excitement and deeply-held feelings that were so much a part of the turbulent 1960's.

The most popular version of the song Aquarius was sung by The Fifth Dimension who added the chorus from Let the Sunshine In as the ending.  SheetMusicPlus has my full arrangement of this Sunshine song which is designed to be easily added to Aquarius for that Fifth Dimension presentation.

Summertime is one of most popular of all Gershwin songs. It is an aria composed in 1934 by George Gershwin for the 1935 folk opera Porgy and Bess.  The flowing, languid melody with lush, rich harmonies bring the musician and an audience into a vivid picture of the hot, humid life of the early south where the living was easy.

The melody is perfect for featuring the French horn and trombone.  Listening to each other to blend individual parts with the full chords is important.  Focus on dynamics, especially the softs, will result in an accurate presentation of this beloved composition.

 Georgia on My Mind is a 1930 song written by Hoagy Carmichael and Stuart Gorrell.  It is one of the most-recorded American songs of all time.

Every instrument has a solo part of the melody with a fun/surprise entrance of Joshua Fought the Battle of Jericho from the trombone that fits in perfectly.  The flowing harmonies offer the ensemble the opportunity to really listen and blend everything together.  Both players and the audience will hear, maybe for the first time, the actual introduction that Carmichael wrote for the main melody we all know as Georgia On My Mind.

This stirring composition was written and recorded by Lee Greenwood in 1984 and is considered to be his signature song. It has become one of America's most beloved patriotic songs, sung at most venues where patriotism is on display.

Each instrument has interesting passages throughout the piece featuring flowing sixteenth-note phrases supporting the melody. Emphasis should be focused on the many and varied dynamic contrasts, especially the softs, as the piece builds to several fortissimo climaxes.
