It was allegedly written for a 5-shilling bet in Stalybridge on January 30, 1912 and performed the next night at the local music hall. Now commonly called It’s a Long Way to Tipperary, the original printed music calls it It’s a Long, Long Way to Tipperary. It became popular among soldiers in the First World War and is remembered as a song of World War I. Pack Up Your Troubles in Your Old Kit-Bag, and Smile, Smile, Smile is the full name of the World War I marching song, published in 1915 in London. It was written by Welsh songwriters, George Henry Powell under the pseudonym of George Asaf, and set to music by his brother Felix Powell. It was featured in the American show Her Soldier Boy, which opened in December 1916. This skillful arrangement by Jari Villanueva captures the flavor of the original tunes and would be a great selection commemorating the 100th anniversary of World War I. The arrangement includes the verses of the tunes and the British bugle call Fall In. This clever arrangement culminates in a rousing section that superimposes both tunes. Included is a Full Score and parts for Brass Ensemble. Also included are substitute parts for Eb Horns and Treble Clef Baritone Horn A retired member of the United States Air Force Band where he served on the Music Production staff (as well as a trumpeter and bugler) and a student of Bill Holcombe, Jari Villanueva continues writing for different ensembles. His arrangements are played by bands, brass ensembles and brass quintets all over the country including many military groups. Many of his arrangements can be found on Sheet Music Plus and JV MUSIC. www.jvmusic.net Jari is a 2016 Sheet Music Plus Arranging Contest winner and winner of the 2016 Holiday Arranging Contest.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P8QQQd-8WVo

Brass Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1004395 Composed by Larry Williams. Contemporary. Score and parts. 31 pages. Larry Andrew Williams #3533223. Published by Larry Andrew Williams (A0.1004395). The term Ruffles and Flourishes signifies an announcement or presenting of a high ranking official in the U.S. Military. Done using drums or bugles, this call pays respect without ceremony or circumstance and is usually delivered before the official takes the floor to address a congregation. Generals would receive a flourish for each star, the President would receive four.In the case of this piece, you will picture a war torn battalion of troops returning home after battle. Much like a When Johnny Comes Marching Home feel with its own twists, both musically and viscerally. Recommended for any patriotic gathering, this piece is part of a larger work, An American Salutation.

Brass Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.870408 Composed by Giovanni Gabrieli. Arranged by Randy A. Steinberg. Baroque. Score and parts. 65 pages. Randy A. Steinberg #1999307. Published by Randy A. Steinberg (A0.870408). Giovanni Gabrieli was no mere composer. He was an event. The figure at the nexus of many things all coming together in one grand tide. The greatest church in the greatest city of Europe. Freedom of intellectual thought. A Venetian School of composers at the forefront of musical innovation. The printing press and musical publishing. A Doge (Chief Magistrate or Duke) willing to spend, and spend big, on musical pomp and ceremony. A dearth of wealth and money to fund the grandest celebrations. He was the leading Italian composer and organist in Venice at its greatest heights at the chasm between the end of the Renaissance and the beginning of the Baroque period in music. Presented here is a Canzona published around 1615 for 12 brass divided into 3 choirs. A variety of substitute parts are also included to handle the trombone and trumpet parts with French horns and tuba. One of Gabrieli’s best with antiphonal choirs performing a wonderful bugle like bell-tone melody in major triads. A great audience pleaser!

Josef STASTNY #6573185. Published by Josef STASTNY (A0.743706). The Thunderer is a march composed by John Philip Sousa in 1889. The origin of the name is not officially known, though it is speculated that it gets its name from the pyrotechnic [effects] of the drum and bugle in [the] score.[2] It is also one of Sousa's most famous and is one of the more difficult compositions to perform.
