It has 4 trumpets, 3 trombones including one bass, 1 horn, 1 euphonium and 1 tuba plus a marimba and snare drum thrown in for good measure. The septet was uploaded as 3 separate movements. Parts not labeled as to instrument in movements 2 and 3 can be identified easily from the score of that movement.

The most popular of such acts was Al Jolson, famous for singing Mammy. Al Jolson was the most celebrated white popular singer before Frank Sinatra, and he starred in the first talkie (motion picture with sound). That's perfectly awful, but I came across a coon song that I thought had a great tune, and my arrangement worked out fine. Unfortunately, its title is Coon! Coon! Anybody who takes a passing interest in their activities will see the strength of their music and the messages that they convey. In its history there have been many different styles of composition that have been popular with Salvationist composers and one of these are the meditations. In days gone past these meditiations would have been sent out in a package of other arrangements or compositions for bandmasters to peruse and then, should they wish, purchase. Meditations, in their contexts, are either sung or composed for an instrument with piano or band accompaniment. Today, meditations don't need a specific religious basis, but their style remains consistent. I have written this as a dedication to my dad who remains a great light in my life.  .
