All I Want For Christmas Is You was the smash hit fourth single from Mariah Carey's 1994 album Merry Christmas. It is the 11th best selling single of all time, and often regarded as one of the few worthy modern additions to the holiday canon. The Phil Spector style, 1960s sound has helped the song become a perennial Christmas favorite.

There is an optional vocal solo part which can be performed by your bands very own pop diva. However, please note that this arrangement is a semitone higher than the original key to make give the brass instruments an easier key signature and range.

From Wikipedia: Charles Daly Barnet (October 26, 1913 – September 4, 1991) was an American jazz saxophonist, composer, and bandleader.

Skyliner...was written as the theme music for the late 1940s US Armed Forces Network program Midnight In Munich, broadcast from the AFN station in Munich, Germany, and hosted by Ralph Moffat. Thanks to the station's immensely powerful twin 100 kW transmitters, AFN Munich could be heard as far away as the UK; this, and the popularity of Moffat's show, evidently helped Skyliner and many other contemporary American swing hits to gain wide popularity across Europe and become hits in the UK. The title (which was originally printed as Sky Liner) may be a reference to the practice of American pilots flying into Munich who used the radio station's powerful signal to home in on the city.

It scares me to think that I arranged this piece as long ago as 1983! It was one of many I made for the Seras Brass Quintet which I helped form while studying at the University of Liverpool. In those days the brass quintet repertoire was limited and, to an impecunious student, expensive. Consequently we made many of our own arrangements and this one became a popular concert item – often used as an encore.

We didn’t have Derby mutes (I still don’t!) but we managed to change the straight mute successfully enough. If it’s a problem just cover the bell with the left hand – the main thing is to create a different timbre, after all.

Carlo Gesualdo, Prince of Venosa, Musician and Murderer! That’s not a news headline (though it would be quite a good one) but the title of a book by composer Peter Warlock which I read avidly after first encountering the Italian composer in a lecture at the University of Liverpool in the 1980s. We were studying the Italian madrigal, which was not really my thing until our lecturer threw Moro Lasso into the mix. Its opening chords seemed so incongruous – unlike anything we had heard – and are as striking today as they must have been in 1611 when first published in Gesualdo’s 6th Book of Madrigals.

More or less immediately after that lecture I arranged the piece for the Seras Brass Quintet which I had helped form. In those days the brass quintet repertoire was limited, and certainly didn’t include anything by Gesualdo!

The arrangement really benefits from a church-like acoustic where you can make the most of the dramatic built-in silences. The tuba part lies quite high and is very playable on a trombone if need be. Even to modern ears there are some strange sounds and I trust that all the ‘wrong’ notes are Gesualdo’s rather than mine – do let me know if you think otherwise!

This is great for high school, university students and professionals. It's not too hard, but beginners beware, it's a bit beyond basic entry level horn playing. There are not a lot of horn arrangements out there like this one. This arrangement helps fill a niche for small ensemble in that horn quartet music typically lacks repertoire in most contemporary and jazz genres.
If you're reading this in the future, this was one of the most popular songs of the year 2020! This arrangement is my take on it for quartet, semi-faithful to the original song with a bit of a jazzy twist. Score, parts and cover arts included. A crisp presentation of the grand old Hymn that, after a four measure intro introduces the Hymn Tune with trumpets accompanyed by lower brass. There is a Frenchhorn quartet that brings out the phrase This is my earnest plea, more love O Christ to Thee in a sparkling manner that is repeated later in the presentation. It is great to follow along with the words, because the arrangement helps bring out the meaning of the words.
