These arrangements of favorite Christmas carols are sure to brighten up your next Christmas event. The publication consists of full scores for each hymn plus separate instrumental parts and an optional simplified keyboard part. All the arrangements are in four parts, reflecting the traditional SATB voicing. The parts include 1st trumpet in B flat; 2nd trumpet in B flat; horn in F; horn in E flat; trombone and optional tuba; optional bass in B flat and bass in E flat. There are also two optional baritone parts in B flat (TC) and C (BC) in case you need them. They are the same as the tenor part. In some carols, you might prefer to assign any baritones to doubling the bass or doubling the melody an octave lower. The baritone part in C is also playable by trombone. The trombone and tuba parts appear on a single staff. Of course, you can use any number of instruments to a particular part. The optional keyboard part has been simplified and whenever possible limited to single notes in the left hand part and no more than two-note chords in the right. Using the keyboard part, you can use the arrangements as solos, duets or trios. The scores and all the parts are contained in a single 129-page PDF file.
Because the music has been set in brass-friendly keys, the arrangements are not necessarily with other Colin Kirkpatrick arrangements published by Glyn Joseph Editions. Jamaican folk music and many popular genres, such as mento, ska, rocksteady, reggae, dub music, dancehall, reggae fusion and related styles. It is a work song, from the point of view of dock workers working the night shift loading bananas onto ships. The lyrics describe how daylight has come, their shift is over, and they want their work to be counted up so that they can go home.

The best-known version was released by American singer Harry Belafonte in 1956 and later became one of his signature songs.

I am happy to present this arrangement to you in the original key. Other percussive instruments may be used, including steal drums, using the basic rhythms contained herein.

2020 SMP Press Composition Contest Entry for the Popular instrumental ensemble category:  This is a brass quintet arrangement of a song for the end credits of Walt Disney Pictures' 1993 motion picture, The Three Musketeers, which starred Charlie Sheen, Kiefer Sutherland, Chris O'Donnell, Oliver Platt, Tim Curry, and Rebecca De Mornay.  The song was originally performed and recorded in D major by co-writer Bryan Adams, with Rod Stewart and Sting.  It was a worldwide hit, reaching number one across Europe, Australia and North America.  This music is in Db major and the playing time is approximately 4:15.  En Garde!

The work is relatively simple but with demanding sections, ideal for demonstrating virtuosity of players. The piece explores clashing harmonies bringing a unique interpretation and instrumental colour to this traditional folk song. Perfect piece for concert or open air performance.

Based on the formally published Slave Song The Good Old Way (1867) the exact origin of the melody is unknown but research points heavily to being composed by an African-American slave. The song has since been used in the 2000 feature film O Brother, Where Art Thou? as well as being interpreted by American bluesgrass-country singer Alison Krauss in 2002.

This is a setting for brass quintet of the hymn tune Dove of Peace, an American folk melody that was originally known by the title Land of Rest. It first appeared as a hymn tune in William Walker's compilation Southern Harmony in 1835. It has been used to set many hymn texts over the years, including How Sweet the Name of Jesus Sounds, Forgive Our Sins as We Forgive, and O Tell Me Where the Dove has Flown. But today it is most commonly associated with Brian Wren's 1968 Eucharist text I Come with Joy.  Grade 4 - Duration 2:00
