Brass Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.964595 Composed by Giovanni Gabrieli. Arranged by Betsy Bright. Concert,Renaissance,Wedding,World. Score and parts. 15 pages. Bright Music Company #6491639. Published by Bright Music Company (A0.964595). Gabrieli's music is always tremendously satisfying to hear and to play.  Because his Canzon IV a 6 is for 6 voices, it's not often played by brass ensembles, but it's just as fantastic as his more popular works.  This arrangement is for 3 Bb trumpets, horn (or trumpet 4 to sub for horn), trombone, and tuba.  There is ample rest for the higher voices, and the range demands are light.Difficulty:  advanced intermediateDuration:  2.5 minutes.

Brass Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.726434 Composed by Kenneth Baird. Christmas,Contemporary,Standards. Score and parts. 21 pages. Kenneth Baird Music #6087407. Published by Kenneth Baird Music (A0.726434). A rousing fanfare for brass choir that is perfect for opening formal occasions or for providing an exciting and uplifting start to any concert, Gabriel’s Legion by Kenneth Baird is set in a bold symphonic style and in 6/8 meter. This brief fanfare is not heavy on finger technique but demands clear articulate playing and resonant tone by all. Originally composed for trumpet choir and recorded by the trumpet choir of the University of Kentucky, this new version adds tonal depth and a few new harmonies to the original. 10-parts: 4 trumpets, 2 horns in F, 3 trombones, and tuba. Baritone T.C. parts are provided as an alternative to any of the trombone parts.

Brass Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.870397 Composed by Giovanni Gabrieli. Arranged by Randy A. Steinberg. Baroque. Score and parts. 31 pages. Randy A. Steinberg #1988451. Published by Randy A. Steinberg (A0.870397). Giovanni Gabrieli was no mere composer. He was an event. The figure at the nexus of many things all coming together in one grand tide. The greatest church in the greatest city of Europe. Freedom of intellectual thought. A Venetian School of composers at the forefront of musical innovation. The printing press and musical publishing. A Doge (Chief Magistrate or Duke) willing to spend, and spend big, on musical pomp and ceremony. A dearth of wealth and money to fund the grandest celebrations. He was the leading Italian composer and organist in Venice at its greatest heights at the chasm between the end of the Renaissance and the beginning of the Baroque period in music. Presented here is a Canzona published around 1615 for 6 brass. A variety of substitute parts are also included to handle the trombone parts with French horns and tubas. A great work that draws from Gabrieli’s many styles. The piece starts with a song like tune that is repeated throughout. Each variation is separated by a 3/4 dance-like chanson repeated throughout. The final cadence is classic Gabrieli with its grand finale. A Gabrieli instrumental ensemble work that provides listeners with a variety of common Gabrieli touches all in one piece without requiring a lot of musical forces.

Brass Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.912507 Composed by Thomas R. Schadl. Concert,Contemporary,Holiday,Instructional,Standards. Score and parts. 28 pages. Thomas R. Schadl #6438039. Published by Thomas R. Schadl (A0.912507). In writing the Ricercare In B Flat Major For Brass Orchestra, it came to my attention the works of Giovanni Gabrielli, Palestrina and other composers of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries. The fugues of Johann Sebastien Bach and his contemporaries are the descendants of the ricercare in that the themes are treated contrapuntally. The main feature in the ricercare and the fugue is the melodic imitation of the principal theme. Unlike the fugues of Bach that includes the countersubject, the ricercare has no regular countermelody to provide musical interest to the theme. Another feature to discover in the Ricercare In B Flat Major is the concerto nature, where the trumpet ensemble plays against instruments of lower pitch registration and the French horn chorus plays against instruments of different tone colors. The concluding section of the piece includes all instruments playing together. In performing the work, the brass orchestra performs together on stage. There also may be a possibility of having the work performed in different parts of a hall to give listeners an idea of the concerto-like works of Gabrielli’s sacred symphonies. This idea may be decided at the discretion of the conductor and the ensemble. The work is suitable for concert use and may be used to teach students the compositional techniques composers of previous centuries used in composing their works.
