Verdi was inspired to compose this work, prompted by the challenge put forth to harmonize the Enigmatic Scale by composer Adolfo Crescentini. The rather bizarre scale is passed around to all the parts throughout the entire work and has become part of the mystery of this beautiful sacred work. This 6-minute piece has been brilliantly arranged for 8-part Brass Ensemble with the following instrumentation: Cornet in B-flat, 3 Flugelhorns, 3 Trombones and Bass Trombone. Substitute parts for 2 Horns and Tuba are also included if desired. This work may be performed by moderately advanced performers.

La donna è mobile', the Duke's aria from Rigoletto is probably one of the most recognizable operatic melodies ever written.  It has been arranged for 4-part brass ensemble (2 trumpets, French horn and trombone).  This arrangement of an operatic masterpiece was created to make ‘Opera’ accessible to wider audiences for various reasons (instructive, educational purposes; and performance familiarity to/for a larger population).  This arrangement is an excellent tool for introducing ‘Opera’ music in the classroom, and programming diversity in the concert hall.
