The Four Seasons is generally considered to be Vivaldi’s most famous work. It is a set of four concerti for Violin, each of the four representing one of the four seasons. A performance of the entire original set would take at least 40 minutes. This version is a collection of the main themes presented as a short suite and takes approximately 5 minutes to perform. Alternatively, each of the movements may be performed as a separate piece. The aim of this arrangement was to give Early Intermediate Level Woodwind and/or Brass players an opportunity to perform what is undoubtedly one of the most well-known pieces of Baroque string repertoire. The instrumentation is flexible, allowing for many different combinations of instruments, including Clarinet Trio/ Ensemble, Saxophone Trio/Ensemble, Brass Trio/Ensemble and even Concert Band. The Solo at the start of the 4th Movement (Winter) is an opportunity to feature a Part 1 player who is more advanced. The inclusion of this short section is entirely optional. Part 4 is optional and can be used to include a Tuba and/or less competent players of Clarinet, Bass Clarinet, Tenor Saxophone and F Horn. The inclusion of a Tuba is preferable in the case of a large brass ensemble. The inclusion of a Bass Clarinet (Part 3 or 4) is preferable in a large clarinet ensemble. The score is shown in concert pitch. Octave displacement occurs in some parts. Queen's 'We Will Rock You.' Simplified version for beginning players. This duet uses only six notes (C – A), and the rhythm has been simplified from the original so that it is easy to play. The body percussion stamp stamp clap rhythm can continue throughout the piece by another player or an audience if desired. Part A and Part B take turns at playing the melody and accompaniment, giving both players an interesting part.

This duet is also available for other instruments all playing in Concert B-flat so that parts can be mixed with other instruments and in mixed instrumental group lessons. Other versions of this arrangement by Sarah Johnson are available on SMP for the following instruments: Trumpet/Clarinet, Trombone/Euphonium, Flute, Horn in F, Alto Saxophone/E-flat Tenor Horn. 

A great performance piece for beginning players. Recommended for students in their first year of learning.

This arrangement is perfect for most low brass players with 2-6 years of experience, but it would be fun to play as a filler for more advanced ensembles as well!

This version of our Canoe Song arrangement is scored for 2 trombones, euphonium, and tuba. The trombone parts can both be covered by euphonium players, and the euphonium part can be covered by another trombone player if needed.

This is a very fun and musically satisfying piece to play! With this piece, each voice gets to have a chance playing the melody as well as the fragments that serve as an accompaniment. The 2nd half of this piece includes a round of this tune in 4 layers, and it’s a lot of fun to play.

For younger players, it can be fun to sing the piece with the original words as it’s learned:

My paddle’s keen and bright

Flashing with silver

Follow the wild goose flight

Dip, dip, and swing

The accompanying lines can be sung as Paddle, paddle and dip, dip, and swing.

Designed for beginner to developing players.
It is scored for traditional brass quintet but has extra parts for Eb horn, trombone in Bb treble clef and a bass part in Bb treble clef for some flexibility.
The range of each instrument is kept very modest so that it is accessible for younger players.
The rhythm of the melody is usually manageable for the beginner player if they know the tune, despite it looking a bit complicated.
The bass rhythm is repeated throughout so once the short figure is learned, it is straight forward.

Brass Quintet arrangement, in a simple arrangement.  This will work as a standard quintet (2 trumpets/cornets, horn, trombone, tuba), as a horn quintet or horn quartet plus tuba, or in various combinations of brass instruments such as used commonly in the standard British brass band.  There are multiple versions of every part designed for different transpositions: treble clef in C, Bb, F and Eb (for brass band and french horn players); as well as alto, tenor and bass clef (where appropriate) - for orchestral or military band brass players. The range of each part is quite small, meaning that there is a lot of flexibility for unusual instrument combinations - this is important for Christmas events, where player availability for gigs can be oddly mixed.  An optional drum part is included.  (A similar arrangement for recorder is also available, but this is in a different key - so parts would not be interchangeable.).
