Brass Ensemble - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.767318 Composed by Mike Lyons. Concert,Contemporary. Score and parts. 46 pages. Lyons Music Services #3465944. Published by Lyons Music Services (A0.767318). This is a brand new work for brass quartet, using brass band instrumentation: Cornet (doubling Flugelhorn), Tenor Horn, Baritone Horn and Euphonium. It was written as a submission for a new brass quartet (A4 Brass Quartet) comprising musicians from the RNCM, but didn't get selected. Each movement is based on the ensemble's name and contains a pun on A4. Each movement also has fourths involved in it somewhere. The first movement is called Aforethought (because it contains my initial ideas) and it uses a mixture of tonal and quartal harmonies. Melodies and harmony are based around fourths and fifths. It requires all players to be able to flutter-tongue. After the opening fanfare, there is a march-like melody on the cornet, accompanied by the rest of the ensemble. This is followed by a contrasting tune using intervals of a fourth. These ideas are developed over several keys until the first march-like melody returns. The fanfare idea closes the movement. The second movement is called Aforementioned. It takes its ideas from the first movement, but gives them a bluesy style. The cornet player changes to the flugelhorn for this movement which has a beautiful languid melody. The horn shares some of the glory towards the end.The third and final movement is called Aphorhythm (A4 rhythm) and is in 7/8 time. The jerky little melody plays with the pulse of the 7/8 and smoothly morphs into a steadier 'middle 8' section before reprising the opening music.Altogether, this is an enjoyable and exciting piece for brass quartet..

Brass Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.875873 By Take 6. By Ralph Carmichael. Arranged by Jim Fieldhouse. A Cappella. Score and parts. 9 pages. Nefarious Music Publications #4410801. Published by Nefarious Music Publications (A0.875873). A Quiet Place was written in 1967 but it was the 1988 recording, by American a cappella group, Take 6, that has gone on to become the most well loved version. This arrangement, for brass band quartet, is based on that recording. In order to bring this beautiful setting of Ralph Carmichael's music & lyrics to life, sensitive phrasing and legato playing is paramount. This quartet is scored for two B flat cornets or flugelhorns, E flat tenor horn and B flat Euphonium.

Brass Ensemble - Digital Download SKU: A0.791035 Composed by Jimmy Kennedy and Michael Carr. Arranged by Kevin P Holdgate. Contemporary. Score and parts. 20 pages. Kevin P Holdgate #4889985. Published by Kevin P Holdgate (A0.791035). Versatile Brass 'Old Time Favourites' CollectionWe're Going to Hang out the Washing on the Siegfried Line is a popular song by Ulster songwriter Jimmy Kennedy, written whilst he was a Captain in the British Expeditionary Force during the early stages of the Second World War, with music by Michael Carr. It was first published in 1939The Siegfried Line was a chain of fortifications along Germany's Western border, analogous to the Maginot Line in France. At the first big wartime variety concert organized by ENSA, which was broadcast by the BBC from RAF Hendon in North London on 17 October 1939, Adelaide Hall performed the song accompanied by Mantovani and his orchestra. A rare newsreel of this concert exists, and the footage is thought to be the earliest surviving film of a performer singing the song. The song was used as a morale-booster during the war, particularly up to and during the Battle of France. This is a simple arrangement of the song with a vocal line added if required.

Brass Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.984212 Composed by D. A. Jaquish. Concert,Contemporary,Standards,World. Score and parts. 18 pages. D A Jaquish #4888899. Published by D A Jaquish (A0.984212). Conflictus:  Latin for conflict or struggle.  To live is to embrace struggle.  Even in a musical work can be heard both protagonist and antagonist voices in conflict, motifs rivaling for preeminence as they interweave, confront and overarch. Such is the case with the fantasia, Conflictus.  It begins with a simple theme on a single note; it ends in similar manner: a placid unison as once-strident voices are drawn, still passively resisting, to a concordance.  But in between, this interlocked trio will challenge, fight, cajole, ally, mock, mourn and rail with defiance.  All within the brief musical foray of Conflictus.

Brass Ensemble - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.803398 Composed by John Powell. Arranged by Robert Fisco. Contemporary. Score and parts. 24 pages. Robert Fisco #3554687. Published by Robert Fisco (A0.803398). Brass Quintet arrangement of This Is Berk from DreamWorks' How To Train Your Dragon. A definite crowd-pleaser and a wonderful Hollywood score for any brass quintet setting. This arrangement is on the advanced side - best for college level groups and above, though a very advanced high school group could put this together. The second trumpet part has a section suggested to be played on flugelhorn (not required - it can also be played on a standard trumpet). Approximate length: 3 minutes and 15 seconds.

Brass Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.948762 By Howard Goodall. By Howard Goodall. Arranged by Warren J. Wernick. Contemporary. Score and parts. 7 pages. Warren J Wernick #5713803. Published by Warren J Wernick (A0.948762). Blackadder is a series of four BBC One pseudohistorical British sitcoms, plus several one-off installments, which originally aired from 1983–1989. All television episodes starred Rowan Atkinson as the antihero Edmund Blackadder and Tony Robinson as Blackadder's dogsbody, Baldrick. Each series was set in a different historical period, with the two protagonists accompanied by different characters, though several reappear in one series or another, e.g., Melchett (Stephen Fry) and Lord Flashheart (Rik Mayall). The theme song is composed by Howard Goodall, an English composer of musicals, choral music and music for television. He also presents music-based programs for television and radio, for which he has won many awards. In May 2008, he was named as a presenter and Composer-in-Residence with the UK radio channel Classic FM. In May 2009, he was named Composer of the Year at the Classic BRIT Awards. Goodall said of the Theme, They asked me if I would have a go at the tune. With all of these things, although I do come up with my own ideas, you don't really come up with a good one unless you talk it through with them and the vision they've got. It was quite obvious, the historical approach they were going for. What's interesting is that the first series, the medieval one with 'Richard the Fourth', was much more filmic and much more historical. That's why we ended up with that tune. Whereas had the first series been the Elizabethan one, the theme would have been slightly gentler, less heroic. .

Brass Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.954884 Composed by Irish Folk Tune. Arranged by Rick Rangno. Children,Folk,Holiday. Score and parts. 19 pages. Rick Rangno #4363421. Published by Rick Rangno (A0.954884). This arrangement is based on an old Irish air found in P.W. Joyce's collection Ancient Irish Music published in Dublin in 1873. In Irish folklore the leprehaun is portrayed as a little bearded man, wearing a green coat and hat, and who gets into all kinds of mischief. In general they are solitary creatures who spend their time as cobblers making and mending shoes and have a pot of gold hidden at the end of the rainbow. According to the legends, if you are lucky enough to find a leprehaun and catch him you can exchange his freedom for his treasure. But leprehauns can be a tricky...take your eyes off him for just a second and he'll be gone in a wink leaving you with nothing! This should be played quite boisterously and playfully. It could fit into many types of programs of a light nature. Ideal for St.Patrick's Day or children's concerts.
