Brass Ensemble - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.808646 Composed by Léo Delibes (1836-1891). Arranged by F. Leslie Smith. Concert,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 50 pages. Sweetwater Brass Press #516831. Published by Sweetwater Brass Press (A0.808646).    Among the most noteworthy works by Clément Philibert Léo Delibes are two ballets, Coppélia (1870) and Sylvia (1876). Delibes based the latter on a Aminta, a play written by Torquato Tasso three centuries earlier, and it is populated by characters such as Eros, Diana, Orion, as well as Aminta and, of course, Sylvia. The third act opens in the forest with a celebration of the wine vintage, the Grand cortège de Bacchus (March and Procession of Bacchus). The March is exciting and brassy (enough so that the 1982-1986 television series, Knight Rider, used it for a musical theme!). The Procession is more song-like but ends with a big restatement of the March.    Completed in 2012, this arrangement runs about 6 minutes, 50 seconds. The arranger, Les Smith, will be happy to provide substitute parts (for example, treble clef baritone for trombone) at no charge; contact him directly at lessmith61@bellsouth.net. Brass Ensemble - Digital Download SKU: A0.808621 Composed by Léo Delibes (1836-1891). Arranged by F. Leslie Smith. Concert,Graduation,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 21 pages. Sweetwater Brass Press #439497. Published by Sweetwater Brass Press (A0.808621). Brilliant and exciting, this arrangement shows off the brass quintet at its best. Delibes’ opening Marche for the Cortege De Bacchus from Act 3 of his Sylvia ballet suite is always a crowd pleaser, and this version makes it seem as though the piece was composed specifically for five brass instruments. Completed in 2012, this arrangement runs about 2 minutes, 4 seconds. The arranger, Les Smith, can be reached at lessmith@ufl.edu. Brass Ensemble - Digital Download SKU: A0.883765 By Stevie Wonder. By Henry Cosby, Stevie Wonder, and Sylvia Moy. Arranged by Phil Lawrence. Pop,Soul. Score and parts. 41 pages. Phillip Lawrence #3533105. Published by Phillip Lawrence (A0.883765). Up-Tight Stevie Wonder Trombone Trio.Yes, you read it right, a Stevie Wonder number as a trombone trio? Over ten years ago I did the famous Tom Jones number It’s Not Unusual which I knew would be a hit, and it was, and I’ve sold 100’s and its also been on a few CD albums too. I’m not quite sure how these flashes of ideas come to me to arrange, but this time I admit that its a more of a  jaw drop than It’s Not Unusual when I first told some friends.

Brass Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.808691 Composed by James Johnston Stewart and Sergei Prokofiev. Arranged by F. Leslie Smith. Contemporary. Score and parts. 18 pages. Sweetwater Brass Press #4295617. Published by Sweetwater Brass Press (A0.808691).     Sergei Prokofiev’s comic opera, The Love for Three Oranges, Op. 33, was first produced in Chicago’s Auditorium Theatre in 1921. Prokofiev subsequently composed a concert suite from six of the opera’s selections. Of these, the March is probably best known. It was adopted as the theme song for a popular radio series, The FBI in Peace and War, which ran on CBS 1944-1958. Through its use on the program, listeners became familiar with the music and were so impressed that it was recorded and published independently as The FBI March. Because of its bold, driving and rhythmic nature, the March is well suited for a brass group, and makes for an exciting experience for both musicians and audience. This arrangement, written for brass quintet using trumpets pitched in C, was completed in 2012 and runs about 1 minute, 38 seconds. (A Bb-trumpets version is also available.)     The arranger, Les Smith, can be reached at lessmith@ufl.edu.
