Brass Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.808685 Composed by F. Leslie Smith. Arranged by F. Leslie Smith. Children,Holiday,Traditional. Score and parts. 83 pages. Sweetwater Brass Press #3631645. Published by Sweetwater Brass Press (A0.808685).     What is a Rumpus? Most definitions include words such as noisy disturbance, commotion and uproar. Sort of like the sounds from a group of neighborhood children in the days before play dates, private lessons and organized kids’ sports. These sounds were part and parcel of the games they played, games that originated years, even centuries, before and involved high energy levels and top-of-their-voices counting, chanting or singing (with an occasional Nyah-nyah nyah-nyah nyah nyah thrown in for good measure!). Rowdy and raucous, indeed!    This composition is one that will entertain both adults (who, after all, are just grown-up children!) and youngsters. Like children at play, it races right along. In one 6-minute work, it incorporates tunes of eleven children’s game and campfire songs: Michael Finnegan; Ring a Ring o’ Roses; Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star; London Bridge; Hickory Dickory Dock; Three Blind Mice; John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt; My Pony Boy; Old MacDonald Had A Farm; The Farmer in the Dell and Bingo. And, again, like children at play, there is fun, humor and a surprise at every turn.    A Rowdy, Raucous Rumpus is a hoot to play. At a cut-time tempo of 132 and with 14(!) changes of key, it keeps all five musicians on their toes. And busy: on the Tuba part, there are V.S. (turn the page quickly) indications on the bottom of 6 of the 8 pages, 5 for Trombone and Horn in F, 3 for Trumpet 2, and 2 for Trumpet 1. In Bingo, the last tune, the group intermittently stops playing and claps or foot-taps loudly (which is a good spot for audience participation!). On the audio clip, this is indicated with a click (actually, a tambourine sound).    There are a few high notes scattered throughout. Trumpet plays B above its staff once and A a number of times. Trumpet 2 has one A above its staff. Trombone has one F above its staff. Tuba has one G in the top space of its staff.

The Dead come out of their graves to dance till dawn when the cock crows and they return to their graves until the next year. Brass Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.808698 Composed by Frank Loesser. Arranged by F. Leslie Smith. Contemporary. Score and parts. 26 pages. Sweetwater Brass Press #5290545. Published by Sweetwater Brass Press (A0.808698).     Brandon Thomas’ three-act farce, Charley’s Aunt, opened in London in 1892 and was a huge success. It has since been performed and adapted many times. One such adaptation was Where’s Charley? a 1948 Broadway version with music and lyrics by Frank Loesser. Ray Bolger played the starring role as Charley, and its most memorable number was the second act’s Once In Love With Amy. Every night Bolger would perform the number, then turn to the audience and invite them to sing along with him. They loved it, and Bolger would continue to perform it as his signature act for years even after the play closed.    The rhythmic and melodic nature of Once In Love With Amy seems to lend itself to performance by a brass group. And that’s what inspired this arrangement. All play the eight-measure introduction, while the verse-I caught you, sir, having a look at her as she went strolling by-features Trumpets, Horn and Trombone playing melody while tuba provides tempo and pulse. Then comes the familiar chorus, Once in love with Amy, always in love with Amy. The first time through, Tuba plays melody with the other instruments providing accompaniment. On the second time through, for the first half, Trombone and Tuba play an intricate counterpoint while Trumpets and Horn do a rather smooth swing version of the melody; for the second half, Trombone and Tuba take the melody and Trumpets provide the counterpoint. Then comes the surprise ending in which all three participate.    Most players will have little trouble. The arrangement consists of 77 measures in 4/4 time. There are several tempo changes; the fastest is quarter note equals 108. Key signature is G, changing to F at measure 44. All notes for should be within normal playing range.    Sweetwater Brass Press also offers a similar version of Once In Love With Amy arranged for tuba trio.     This arrangement was completed in 2020, and performance time runs about 2 minutes, 58 seconds. The arranger, Les Smith, will be happy to provide substitute parts (for example, treble clef baritone for trombone) at no charge; contact him directly at lessmith61@bellsouth.net. Brass Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.755275 Composed by Sy Brandon. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary. Score and parts. 32 pages. Sy Brandon #4632265. Published by Sy Brandon (A0.755275). Euphony can be defined as the use of words and phrases that are distinguished as having a wide range of noteworthy melody or loveliness in the sounds they create. It gives pleasing and soothing effects to the ear due to repeated vowels and smooth consonants. Euphony was chosen as the title of this composition because each movement has a title beginning with Euph and the music is descriptive of the movement titles. The first movement is titled Euphenism. A euphenism is a polite word or phrase that is substituted for a word or phrase that has a harsher meaning. The music of this movement begins gentler than the way it ends, therefore the beginning can be considered an euphenism for the end. Euphrates is the title of the second movement. This mighty river that flows from Turkey through Syria and Iran was an important river in ancient times for its extensive irrigation of the Mesopotanian Valley. This movement is both flowing and expansive. Euphorbia, the title of the third movement, is a genus of flowering plants. It is also caused Spurge as it tends to appear where it is not wanted. This movement is a pretty waltz that is constantly interrupted by a dissonant motif. This motif represents the invasive quality of Spurge. The last movement is called Euphoria. It sparkles with its driving rhythms, fast tempo, and syncopation, all representing unbridled joy.

Brass Ensemble - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.767421 Composed by Mike Lyons. Concert,Contemporary,Standards. Score and parts. 73 pages. Lyons Music Services #3860115. Published by Lyons Music Services (A0.767421). Titans:  This is a piece inspired by the mythological Titans, who were deposed by the Greek God Zeus, who exiled them and founded the Olympian tradition. The titans were created by the mating of Uranus (Heaven) and Gaea (the Earth). Gaea and Uranus were themselves created from Chaos (the Void). There were many Titans. Cronus, often mistaken for the god of time, was their leader, their brother and the father of their children. Cronus mated with his sister Rhea to produce the gods Zeus, Hades and Poseidon.  Cronus was given a prophecy that he would be deposed by his children, so he forced Rhea to give her children to him when they were born whereupon he ate them. She managed to deceive him and hid Zeus, the youngest male child, away. Zeus eventually freed his siblings, by making Cronus vomit to bring them back to the world and thus he became the oldest. The other gods were persuaded to make Zeus their leader and together they deposed Cronus and defeated the Titans in a war (the Titanomachy) that lasted for many years. Zeus and the other gods were not able to kill Cronus, so he exiled him and all of the other Titans in a place called Tartarus, which was part of the underworld, where Cronus would have no access to power of any kind. The music is based mostly on the opening chords, which recur again and again, representing Tartarus and also Cronus and all of his children in one form or another. Melodic material throughout is shaped by the chords and their progressions and I have applied simple transformations – for example, in the last section I have shaped the motifs by applying a snippet of a Fibonacci sequence and overlaying the result in different parts like a canon. I decided to use this because the Fibonacci sequence is representative of nature and the growth of life so it links to Gaea, who represents the creative force. Obviously, Cronus, Gaea, Chaos, Zeus, Hades, Poseidon and Tartarus are all represented here, but so too are Oceanus, Phoebe, Mnemosyne and The Titanomachy (The war of the Olympians against the Titans). The piece finishes with a reprise of the opening chords, which have transformed into a less bleak soundscape, with Cronus and the other Titans safely locked away in Tartarus. This is a difficult and challenging piece demanding a high level of skill from all players. it uses a number of dramatic effects and will stretch any ensemble.I am looking into making a version of this piece for Brass Quintet.Watch te score playing here https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2w7dUmJh5k4

Brass Ensemble - Digital Download SKU: A0.883786 Composed by Eric Burdon and Eric Victor Burdon. Arranged by Phil Lawrence. Contemporary. Score and parts. 64 pages. Phillip Lawrence #5287377. Published by Phillip Lawrence (A0.883786). The idea for this arrangement was given to me by an old friend who played in BR Edge Hill band with when we were kids, Christine Humphreys and to do it for bass trombone, the more I looked at it thinking of Eric Burdon’s voice from The Animals with his first verse nearly too low for him to scrape the lower notes and then the later verses near to top of his register suited. The Animals though in A minor, so for BT I dropped it to Ab minor a real shall we say juicy register for bass trombone plus the added attraction of setting it in the lower octave pedal area to show the instrument off. There aren’t may Bass Trom solos in the rep, so now we add one more!An interview with Eric Burdon revealed that he first heard the song at a club in Newcastle, England, where it was performed by Northumberland folk singer Johnny Handle. The Animals were on tour with Chuck Berry and chose him because they wanted to sing something different. The Animals version moves the narrative from the initial point of view of a woman drawn into a life of decline to that of a man whose father is a gambler and a drunk, rather than the adorable person of the previous versions.

Brass Ensemble - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.522155 Composed by Various. Arranged by Colin Kirkpatrick. Christmas,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Score and parts. 75 pages. Colin Kirkpatrick Publications #3580273. Published by Colin Kirkpatrick Publications (A0.522155). Your Favorite Christmas Hymns and Carols for Brass, Book 2Arranged for brass by Colin KirkpatrickThis is the second volume of the collection of best-loved Christmas hymns and carols arranged for brass, to brighten up your next Christmas event. This publication includes full four-part instrumental scores plus parts for 1st B flat trumpet, 2nd B flat trumpet, horn in F (with a separate optional part for horn in E flat), trombone and/or tuba. The tuba part is also optional because it either doubles the trombone part or plays an octave below. Both trombone and tuba parts appear on a single staff in the bass clef at concert pitch. The arrangements can be used with brass quartet, brass quintet or brass ensemble. There’s also an optional but useful simplified keyboard part intended for less experienced keyboard players. The left hand plays only the bass part most of the time, with the right hand part kept as simple as possible. It could be used as the basis of an accompaniment which means that you can use the arrangements as solos, duets or trios.    The arrangements are intended either as stand-alone pieces that could be used as interludes in a concert or service, or they could be used to accompany solo, choral or congregational singing. The arrangements been written in brass-friendly keys as often as possible. While the hymns mostly use the traditional harmonies, the carols have been treated more freely. Book 2 contains the following 21 titles: As with Gladness Men of Old (Melody: Dix); Away in a Manger (Melody: Cradle Song); Ding! Dong! Merrily on High (Melody: Bransle de l'Officiel); God Rest You Merry, Gentlemen; A Great and Mighty Wonder (Melody: Es ist ein Ros); Hark! Brass Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.726435 Composed by Various. Arranged by Kenneth Baird. Christian,Christmas,Standards. Score and parts. 24 pages. Kenneth Baird Music #6092095. Published by Kenneth Baird Music (A0.726435). Many have loved the duet arrangements found in the original collection of 12 Christmas Duets for Bass Clef Instruments arranged by Kenneth Baird. Volume 2 is now available! As in the original collection, this is a delightful collection of intermediate to advanced-intermediate level duets based on traditional Christmas carols. They are challenging at times (not for beginners) without being overwhelming; at times joyful, at times uplifting, at times serene. There's even a very jazzy version of Go Tell It on the Mountain! In addition to being a joy for friends to play together, they are a great resource for teachers to play at lessons with their students, they are are suitable for informal Christmas performances, and many are appropriate for church services. Note: the duets in this collection have NOT been arranged to be fully compatible with Mr. Baird's duet collections for other instruments. Instead, these have been arranged specifically for bass clef wind instruments (trombones, euphoniums, and/or bassoons). This collection does include the duets found in previously released Five More Christmas Duets for Bass Clef Instruments by Mr. Baird. Included in Christmas Duets, Volume 2, are: Carol of the Bells, Ding Dong! Merrily on High, the First Noel, Go Tell It on the Mountain, It Came Upon a Midnight Clear, Jingle Bells, Joy to the World (a more traditional version than found in the original duet collection), We Three Kings, Angels We Have Heard on High, God Rest Ye Merry Gentlemen, and In Dulci Jubilo (Good Christian Men Rejoice). If you are looking for simple harmonizations of Christmas Carols, this collection is not for you. If you are looking for something more, you've come to the right place.

Brass Ensemble - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.811155 Composed by Ludwig van Beethoven. Arranged by Jim Tempest. Classical,Romantic Period. Score and parts. 48 pages. Gordon Cherry #5755591. Published by Gordon Cherry (A0.811155). Beethoven wrote five military marches for wind band and they are referred to being works without opus numbers or WoO. He was well acquainted with marches and wind instrumentation. His marches fell out of favor after a while as the instruments called for became antiquated (Piccolo and Flute in F, etc.). With today's arrangements for modern instruments these works are now being performed more often. These Two Marches for Military Band arranged by Jim Tempest were written in 1809-1810 for a military review and are a great example of the style of the day: a simple harmonic style, 2 or 4 bar phrases with lots of dotted notes and snappy rhythms. The instrumentation is for a 14-part Brass Ensemble and Percussion: Piccolo Trumpet in B-flat, 3 Trumpets in B-flat, Flugelhorn, 3 Horns, 3 Trombones, 2 Euphoniums, Tuba, Bass Drum, Snare Drum and Cymbals. They are appropriate for moderately advanced performers and are about 3 minutes in length each.

Brass Ensemble - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.780064 By Billie Eilish. By Billie Eilish O'Connell and Finneas O'Connell. Arranged by Graham Boag. Pop. Score and parts. 18 pages. Graham Boag #6026933. Published by Graham Boag (A0.780064). No Time to Die is a the twenty-fifth instalment in the James Bond film series produced by Eon Productions. It features Daniel Craig in his fifth and final outing as the fictional MI6 agent James Bond. It is directed by Cary Joji Fukunaga, who also co-wrote the screenplay with Neal Purvis, Robert Wade, and Phoebe Waller-Bridge. Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris, Ben Whishaw, Rory Kinnear, Jeffrey Wright, Léa Seydoux, and Christoph Waltz reprise their roles from previous films, with Rami Malek, Lashana Lynch, Dali Benssalah, Billy Magnussen, and Ana de Armas joining the cast.  The theme song is sung by the American singer Billie Eilish. In January 2019, Eilish told her management that she wanted to be involved if any Bond things come up…whatever we have to do we will do. When the opportunity did arise, the pair jumped into action to book a recording studio, but it left them intensely uninspired and suffering from writer's block. Following this lacklustre day in the studio and they ended up writing and recording the song in a tour bus in Texas, after Finneas came up with an initial chord progression; in just three days the song was written and recorded. Prior to this, the siblings had a meeting with Bond producer Barbara Broccoli, who sent them the script for the opening scene in order to give them a bit of inspiration, which Eilish said was so cool and really, really helpful.Finneas claimed it was useful to go back to listen to previous Bond themes to ensure they were on the right track and did not copy or recreate something which had already been done before, adding that there are few things in your career that are as desirable as doing a Bond song. We did not take the opportunity lightly and worked as hard as we could to prove ourselves. Eilish also revealed that Daniel Craig himself had a major role in vetting the submissions.ALTERNATIVE PARTS 1, 2, 3 &  4 ARE INCLUDED TO ALLOW FOR FLEXIBILITY DURING COVID-19 REHEARSALS.
