They are arranged primarily for two Trumpets, one Trombone and one Tuba, but the file also contains alternative/additional parts for Horn in F, Tenor Horn in Eb and Bass Trombone. The file contains the score plus the separate parts.

16 Favourite Hymns for Brass Quartet (Vol 2.) are fully compatible with the other Brass, Woodwind and String volumes in the series. Both the short audio sample and the linked youtube performance are from the Clarinet Quartet version of these arrangements. 

·     There are also solo and duet versions available of the same hymns, in the same keys, so that no matter what instrument you play they will fit together.

·     This makes them ideal for building repertoire for church bands and other ensembles.

This is the second volume of the collection of best-loved Christmas hymns and carols arranged for brass, to brighten up your next Christmas event. This publication includes full four-part instrumental scores plus parts for 1st B flat trumpet, 2nd B flat trumpet, horn in F (with a separate optional part for horn in E flat), trombone and/or tuba. The tuba part is also optional because it either doubles the trombone part or plays an octave below. Both trombone and tuba parts appear on a single staff in the bass clef at concert pitch. The arrangements can be used with brass quartet, brass quintet or brass ensemble. There’s also an optional but useful simplified keyboard part intended for less experienced keyboard players. The left hand plays only the bass part most of the time, with the right hand part kept as simple as possible. It could be used as the basis of an accompaniment which means that you can use the arrangements as solos, duets or trios.
   
The arrangements are intended either as stand-alone pieces that could be used as interludes in a concert or service, or they could be used to accompany solo, choral or congregational singing. The arrangements been written in brass-friendly keys as often as possible. While the hymns mostly use the traditional harmonies, the carols have been treated more freely.

This arrangement of the traditional hymn begins with the low brass playing a determined bass line that supports a progressive addition of melody and harmony. The texture changes to an antiphonal-style that could possibly be performed with the ensemble split in two. The piece returns to the grounded feel but with full sounds and rich harmonies. This work would be a satisfying prelude to a congregational singing of the hymn in its traditional format or simply programed for concert settings. While not technically difficult, this music will challenge the endurance and focus of the trombone and tuba players.

This piece works well as a prelude to a worship setting or programed as a change of pace selection for general audiences. The arranger encourages ensembles to take more time at the ending than the recording presents.
