The piece is about 3-4 minutes in length, lyrical and expressive. Musicians have agreed that this is a sublime work of true genius. Traditionally this chorale is performed at Christmas in both Catholic and Protestant traditions, but is beautiful at any time of the year.

Starting with one of Gabrieli’s more beautiful themes repeated in both choirs, the piece builds in technical complexity and rhythm until its exciting finale. A true delight for almost any audience!
