This Kelly Clarkson hit is a great choice to connect to a more youthful audience, and it's fun for younger players too!  Written for brass quintet, it retains all the energy of the original song.  Add a player on the optional drum set part for even more excitement!  If you don't have a french horn, substitute parts are included for baritone t.c. and euphonium.  The song comes in at around 3:14 in length.

Composed in 1913, I Love You, California was adopted as the official STATE SONG in 1951 and reconfirmed in 1987. The lyrics are by Francis Beatty Silverwood (1863-1924), a Los Angeles clothier, and the music by Alfred V. Frankenstein (1873-1934).  It is used officially at funerals of California governors, most recently at the funeral of Ronald Regan.  Jazz Me Blues is a true New Orleans dixieland classic. It has been recorded by Louis Armstrong, Bix Beiderbecke, the Dukes of Dixieland and dozens of others and is still widely performed today. This arrangement is for two euphoniums and two tubas. Tuba I should be played on an Eb or F horn. This arrangement is on an advanced intermediate level. The melody is split between the two euphoniums and tuba 1 gets to play a written out jazz chorus. This song is fun to play and has a happy sound.  You and your audience will all tap your feet to this song.
