The original tune is an expansion of a short atonal melodyhanded to me on a scrap of paper 40 years ago by afellow student (known to all as The Princess).Initially it developed into a guitar solo but it has now also blossomed into a tuba quartet. In both cases, the atonal melody flowered into something more tonal and interesting.
