String Ensemble,String Trio Violin - Digital Download SKU: A0.497961 Composed by Johann Sebastian Bach. Arranged by Pietro Prugna. Baroque,Classical,Instructional. Score and parts. 18 pages. Published by Pietro Prugna (A0.497961). JS Bach has written numerous amazing Fugues. This piece was originally written for Solo Violin. For beginners, it may be difficult to hear the different parts for the piece and technically difficult to play the piece. In this arrangement, the voices are split into 3 violins. This enables violinists to play this piece together and appreciate the various parts both separately and together in the Fugue. While doing the arrangement, reference was made with JS Bach's own transcription of this piece for Organ (BWV 539). With the expanded musical palette of the Organ transcription, much insight can be gained into Bach's ideas on this Fugue. Portions of the Organ version were incorporated to this arrangement, especially where there is only 1 melody line. In addition, the theme is also repeated over some single melody lines. The pdf contains Full Score of 3 Violins and Set of Parts (Violin I, Violin II and Violin III). The Parts are formatted for easy page turning and reading.

By Mike Strand, ASCAP This is a lead sheet for a jazz combo or ensemble, a good basis for a variety of arrangements, improvisations, or contrafacts. The audio sample is my melody from Finale PrintMusic, combined with an iReal Pro swing accompaniment. I’ve designated the melody for solo violin, an instrument that I would like to see and hear more often in jazz ensembles.  You will hear a violin carry the melody in the audio sample. Playing the solo on violin solves a possible difficulty in performance. Problem:  This piece may be too challenging for many wind instrument players (brass, woodwind). Solution:  This piece is well suited to a non-wind instrument player!  Violin springs to mind. Violin is especially appropriate here:  This tune has lots of notes; similar to a solo violin partita prelude or up-tempo dance movement by J. S. Bach.  A wind instrument player told me that finding spots for taking a breath was a challenge. This is not to discourage wind players from experimenting with the piece, adjusting it in places if necessary.  A wind player may include more breathing spots for relief in his or her improvisation! Note for composers:  I adapted this piece from the 5th (swing) movement of my Partita II, for solo violin, also for sale on this site.

Published by Pietro Prugna (A0.497952). Bach has made many arrangements of his works. Arioso is a very popular and beautiful piece. Originally composed for oboe and string orchestra, in a cantata, Bach later arranged it for keyboard and orchestra (BWV 1056). I wondered how it would sound like if Bach played it on solo violin. Using his style in the Andante of Sonata II (from 3 Sonatas and 3 Partitas for Solo Violin) (BWV1003), where a beautiful melody was accompanied on a solo violin, this is my interpretation of how this arioso would have been played on solo violin. It is technically challenging, but certainly rewarding to be able to play it.
