Violin Solo - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1017149 Composed by James F. Babcock. Contemporary. 15 pages. James Babcock #6350285. Published by James Babcock (A0.1017149). FROM CHILDHOOD – Violin part only. 15 pgs. (Piano accomp. 35 pgs. Sold separately. ) Four easy to Intermediate violin solos for instruction and performance. With piano accompaniments.  Each of the four pieces is available separately on SMP.   (1) MARGARET DANCING.  (SO.      ) Like a Beethoven song and country dance, this piece offers pleasing melodies for the beginner who is well along, both to study and to perform in recital.   (2) MUSICBOX. (SO.      )  This short easy piece imitates the sound of a music box, including its running down at the end.  For instruction it can serve to introduce the student to light staccato bowing or up and down slurred staccato bowing.  For performance it can serve as an amusing interlude.   (3) HYMNSONG. (SO.      )  In the form of an etude, this piece consists of a simple theme with numerous variations, somewhat like Paganini’s famous Caprice 24.  Of intermediate difficulty, it offers double stops, tremolo, and various bowings. For performance it can be played as is or it can easily be shortened by omission of one or more passages.   (4) MOTHER’S STORIES.  (SO.      ) Varying from sweet to dramatic, this simple composition offers an opportunity for emotional interpretation. Intermediate from that standpoint, It is otherwise basically easy. A nice recital piece. Your compositions are charming and melodic, useful both for training and performance.-Thomas Lindsay, former concertmaster, Virginia Beach Symphony and New Jersey Pops.

Violin Solo - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1018936 Composed by Benjamin Harry Sajo. 20th Century,Contemporary. 5 pages. Benjamin Sajo #6072977. Published by Benjamin Sajo (A0.1018936). Fugue: Wear Pearls and Smile is, on the outset, a fast, rambunctious adventure for many voices playing at the same time. It was conceived as a pairing for the equally vivacious second symphony of Ludwig van Beethoven–his 250th birthday is this year–but can stand on its own as one of my hardest, most challenging works to cook up.This piece is dedicated to those forced to appear positive when internally they’re falling apart. The title is inspired by a quote that’s been with me for a while, Why is it that men can be bastards and women must wear pearls and smile? by Lynn Hecht Schafren, the celebrated American jurist famous for campaigning for gender equity in courts. I’m taking the quote out of its initial context, but the power of that quote, for me, exemplifies how hard it is to maintain a sense of emotional decorum and dignity when you’re authentically a hot mess. And what’s more of a musical hot mess than a fugue? There are two realities to this piece. I’ll quote Dmitri Shostakovich, from his autobiography: The rejoicing is forced, created under threat, […] It’s as if someone were beating you with a stick and saying, ‘Your business is rejoicing, your business is rejoicing,’ and you rise, shaky, and go marching off, muttering ‘Our business is rejoicing, our business is rejoicing.’ On the one hand, it is insincere happiness, cloying perhaps. But the other truth, I’ll quote Oscar Hammerstein II, from The King and I: While shivering in my shoes / I strike a careless pose / And whistle a happy tune / And no one ever knows, / I'm afraid. I forced myself, against all impulses of my current being, to forge happiness. This piece, with its origin being a mental puzzle (fugues are puzzles), it became a construct where I could lift myself up and regain a sense of purpose. Therefore, it is invented–out of a literal need to survive–pure, genuine happiness.Future Performances: If you are interested in performing this work, please e-mail me.ABOUT THE COMPOSER: Benjamin Sajo (b. 1988) is a Canadian composer of contemporary classical music, as well as an educator. Since developing a fiercely independent creative voice upon the completion of his studies at Western (2010) and McGill Universities (2013), he continues to find inspiration from the intersection of mythology, art, and nature upon the contemporary human experience. In 2019, he released his premiere album of original music, The Great War Sextet: Canadian War Poetry with Trombone & Strings , with support from the Ontario Arts Council. He is a member of SOCAN and the League of Canadian Composers.

Violin - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q47526 Twelve books of Studies revised, annotated and fingered by Mathieu Crickboom. Composed by Mathieu Crickboom. This edition: Sheet music. Schott Archive. Downloadable. Op. 10. Schott Music - Digital #Q47526. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q47526). These studies have been revised after the original editions. The author's indications of tempo or nuances are placed in parenthesis. Certain of these studies are preceded by examples demonstrating different ways of playing them. The professeur may choose amongst these the most appropriate for the work of each pupil, who should endeavour to produce in the study all the variety of tone possible. It is almost useless to say that the bowings, detached, martelé, smooth, staccato, may be executed in all parts of the bow, in employing a large of very small portion of it. Also only the most essential bowings are shown. It is quite evident that the metronomic movement indicated is at fault if the pupil executes the passage in a slower or more accelerated tempo, or again, with a different nuance. The pupil will remember also that if the little notes, dumb notes, are applied in the preparatory work, they must be perceptible only in the bar indicated by the expression of the melody. As an aid to expression, they should disappear entirely in the quick passages.

Violin Solo - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.816607 Composed by PHILLIP BLISS. Arranged by Cydney Olson Van Duker. Christian,Sacred. 10 pages. Cydney Olson Van Duker #5732919. Published by Cydney Olson Van Duker (A0.816607). It Is Well With My Soul has been around for a long time. I'm sure I've been hearing it all my life, but I didn't really notice it until recently. I felt that little tug a my heart saying that I should do some sort of arrangement; so I decided to do a string duet. This hymn is available as a violin duet, or a cello duet, or as a violin and cello duet, all with piano accompaniment. The piano meanders through the first verse, then becomes a soft, mellow pattern in the second verse. The third verse is strong, with the ending getting slower and softer, with the meandering piano again. I've kept the melody simple so it can be easily heard. This would be appropriate for any worship service. Hope you like it!

Violin Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.869285 Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,Baroque,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. 148 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #33805. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.869285). Instrumentation: violin solo & orchestra, 2222-4231-timp-hp-strings Program note. I first heard Irina Muresanu, maybe five years ago, with the Boston Trio in Jordan Hall at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Massachusetts. I was impressed from the very first note she played on her violin. Subsequently I heard her in a chamber music duo recital with pianist Ya-fei Chuang at the Harvard-Epworth Church in Cambridge, Massachusetts. I remember saying to myself, Wow, she has a big, warm sound! One day I would love to write a violin concerto for her! Last year I heard her play the Brahms and the Tchaikovsky violin concerti on separate occasions with the Lexington Symphony and the Boston Classical Orchestra. It was that wow factor again … When I proposed to write a violin concerto for Max Hobart and the Boston Civic Symphony Orchestra, he asked me who I would like to feature as the soloist. I said Irina Muresanu. Max said it was a fabulous choice since he has been thinking of engaging Irina to play with the Civic for some time. Over the past summer I indulged myself in a buying spree of scores and CD recordings of violin concerti. Many composers’ works stood out: concerti by Brahms, Mendelssohn, Sibelius, Stravinsky, Elgar, Prokofiev, Shostakovich, Saint-Saëns, Dvorak, Paganini, Glazunov, Dohnanyi, Nielsen, Spohr, etc. And of course, I did not ignore the gems by Bach and Mozart! The listening to and research of all these concerti masterpieces were quite overwhelming, to say the least. So, by the time I was ready to begin work on my Concerto, I had to put all those scores and CDs aside and begin to find the music in my head. I must confess that it took a while. But eventually I found the seed that brought everything together. And within six weeks, between late September and early November, I completed the short score of the concerto. The orchestration took approximately ten days and the complete work was done on November 21st, 2009. My Violin Concerto, opus 129, is in two parts. Each part consists of a slow section that is followed by a fast one. Part I: Largo, Moderato, Allegro ma non troppo. Part II: Largo, Adagio, Prestissimo. Enjoy!! TRAVELS ABROAD  – Piano accompaniment only. 35 pgs. (Violin part. 15 pgs. Sold separately SO.876523)  Four intermediate to advanced violin solos for instruction and performance. With piano accompaniments.  Each of the four pieces is available separately on SMP.   (1) AMBIENTE DE TABERNA. (SO.876359) A difficult recital showpiece with dramatic Spanish themes evoking the ambience of a tavern and its flamenco dancers.   (2) ORENSKI IN BUCHAREST.  (SO.876509) Of intermediate difficulty, the piece honors a Rumanian refugee who created a leading novelties business in the U.S. and introduced the composer to vexillology-flag study-as a hobby.   (3) TO VODKA. (SO.876513)  Of intermediate difficulty, this set of variations becomes progressively more hectic and ends with a burp. In an otherwise serious recital, it can serve as an entertaining interlude. But not for playing while inebriated.   (4) O AMIGO DA ONÇA.  (SO.876507) A difficult concert showpiece. Modernistic, it evokes the Brazilian jungle and its tiger, the onça. The title refers to a classic Brazilian anecdote: A man is explaining how to escape from a tiger and his friend keeps presenting obstacles to be overcome, to which the man in frustration finally exclaims, Hey! Are you my friend or the friend of the tiger?! The piece has a few obstacles of its own. Your compositions are charming and melodic, useful both for training and performance.-Thomas Lindsay, former concertmaster, Virginia Beach Symphony and New Jersey Pops.
