Composed by Thomas Oboe Lee. 20th Century,A Cappella,Baroque,Classical,Contemporary,Romantic Period. With Allemande 3. 15 pages. Thomas Oboe Lee #431593. Published by Thomas Oboe Lee (A0.869155).

Program note:
In the spring of 2011 I had nothing to do after I finished composing an all-male a cappella sextet on the Latin textO Magnum Mysterium. And I wasn’t quite ready to begin work on my next project, Symphony No. 8 … City of Light.

A year ago Irina Muresanu premiered my Violin Concerto (2009) in Jordan Hall with Maestro Max Hobart and the Boston Civic Symphony. I was thrilled with her performance of the work. So I thought, how about a set of solo pieces for the violin for her as a token of my appreciation for her artistry?

Anytime one thinks of writing for solo violin, one has to face up to the monumental Partitas and Sonatas for unaccompanied violin by Johann Sebastian Bach. My Partita, similar to Bach’s in the use of the baroque suite as narrative and structure, is in seven movements.

1. Fantasia
2. Allemande
3. Courante
4. Sarabande
5. Gavotte/Minuet
6. Air
7. Gigue

Enjoy!!!!

SKU: A0.1494273

Composed by Thomas Moore. Arranged by Alex Nunes Rodrigues. Folk. 1 pages. Alex Rodrigues #1070877. Published by Alex Rodrigues (A0.1494273).

The Last Rose of Summer is a work deeply rooted in Irish culture, originally penned as a poem by the renowned poet and composer Thomas Moore in 1805. Moore, regarded as Ireland’s national poet, was inspired by an 'Old Blush' rose while staying at Jenkinstown Castle in County Kilkenny, Ireland. The poem was published as part of his Irish Melodies collection between 1807 and 1834 and later set to music by fellow Irishman John Stevenson. The song gained widespread popularity and was incorporated into the opera Martha by the German composer Friedrich von Flotow, which premiered in 1847 in Vienna.

This sheet music has been adapted for solo instrument, preserving the original melody by Moore and Stevenson in its essence. The simplicity of the arrangement allows the musician to highlight the purity of the melody, making it easier to perform while maintaining the piece's emotional character. This version is designed to be accessible for beginner to intermediate musicians, enabling an authentic interpretation that respects the traditional nuances of the work.

The Last Rose of Summer captures the essence of melancholy and the passage of time—universal themes reflected in the farewell to the last vestige of a vibrant summer. The melody, paired with Moore’s poetry, evokes a profound sense of loss and longing, with the solitary rose serving as a metaphor for the fleeting nature of life and the seasons. The simplicity and beauty of this piece have made it a classic, perpetuating Irish tradition and touching the hearts of listeners worldwide.

Song Of The Liberty Bell (string parts; vlns, vla, cel, bs – violin and string orchestra) MO131C-G

String Parts (score available)

Music by Mark O’Connor

39 pages - 5:00 minutes in length

Song Of The Liberty Bell for violin and string orchestra was composed and orchestrated by Mark O’Connor and used as the theme song for the critically acclaimed PBS documentary, Liberty! The American Revolution. O’Connor wrote the piece to include three different instrument groupings - unaccompanied solo, folk ensemble, and string orchestra. The Sony Classical album Liberty! features Song Of The Liberty Bell in all three arrangements. Album notes author Thomas Fleming calls the music profoundly moving with exquisite melody. Fleming further describes the orchestral version - O’Connor joins in, and the instruments of the symphony pick up the theme. It is a musical replication of the way the voices of liberty in 1776 began with a lonely defiant few - and then swelled to a tremendous national chorus that has resounded through the world for the next two hundred and thirty-three years. The music is suited for all levels.

Original music printed from the composer’s manuscripts.
