The Day of Judgment is one a person may face with some apprehension, but it need not be with unalloyed dread. The outcome could be favorable, and despite some anxiety the person may indeed be confident that all will be well.
This intermediate-level piece for solo viola draws on tunes from both Jewish and Christian liturgy. The Christian Dies Irae is quoted in several places, and many of the Jewish tunes referred to are from the High Holiday services.

In this piece for solo viola, I was trying to capture the moments of stillness at the end of a day - or the end of a life. Intermediate or early intermediate level: some natural harmonics and left hand pizzicato, but nothing in the very high note range.
