Neapolitan Song is a charming light item from a collection of short piano pieces written by Russian composer Pyotr Ilyich Tcahikovsky 'for the young' in 1878.  The composer also used an orchestrated version of the piece in Act 2 of his ballet Swan Lake.This arrangement for mixed woodwind trio of flute, clarinet in B-flat and bassoon demands tidy and accurate articulation - at speed in the faster, flashy closing section!  The piece is ideal as a light closing item or encore for a recital.
