Originally included in the Postludes, Vol I set by the same composer, this has become an often-requested piece to perform in concerts and in church services alike. This firey piece sounds much more difficult than it actually is to play, so basically less work and more reward! Written in the French toccata style of the Romantic period, this piece is sure to excite and energize audiences anywhere (as it already has done so in organ concerts around the world)!

Funny fact: this piece was once announced in an organ program before it was played, and someone in the audience misheard it as the Wildflower Toccata, soon becoming very confused when it did not sound like beautiful wildflowers in any way. Needless to say, after the concert they had to ask the performer for clafication that it was indeed meant to be the Wildfire Toccata.

A brilliant, fiery piece in the Romantic tradition, perfect for a rousing postlude. It begins with an exciting dialogue between manuals and pedals, leading into a more sparse middle section where the opening pedal melody is augmented into a melody which hangs above a continuous sixteenth-note pattern. The opening section then returns, before the piece closes in the parallel major key with a virtuosic peddle line for the triumphant conclusion.

A short melodic piece perfect for a prelude or offertory. The melody makes use of lilting triplet rhythms, and the harmonies progress smoothly and naturally through unexpected tonal centers. The musical language is lush and Romantic but very approachable by modern congregations.

A spritely scherzo on a traditional French carol, the melody is reinterpreted in this setting to bounce up and down between octaves. It begins softly with a pizzicato-like pedal line, and grows gradually into a rousing French toccata to celebrate the joyous season. The harmonic language borrows from the 19th and 20th century French style, but retains its tonal center so as to be easily appreciated and enjoyed by any church congregation.

Originally composed as joyous postludes for a church service to keep the congregation engaged and in their seats, rather than rushing to coffee hour or Sunday brunch, these pieces will have them sticking around to listen. Ti Appartengo is based on Carlo Gesualdo's madrigal Io Parto e Non Più Dissi, which was written before, but published after Gesualdo's famous murder of his adulterous wife and her lover. In the madrigal, Gesualdo pronounces that he is leaving, but later decides not to leave when he sees that his wife (referenced as the mythological Chloris) is sad and depressed at the prospect of his absence. She is dependent on his love for her personal happiness. In essence, she belongs to him, as my work's title suggests. Compositionally, I segment portions of the madrigal and its text. I add quartal and quintal harmonies and develop selected motivic fragments through retrograde, inversion, and sequencing to paint the drama.
