Organ - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.898551 Composed by Matthew Alan Edwards. Arranged by Matthew Alan Edwards. Baroque,Christmas,Concert,Renaissance,Sacred. Score. 6 pages. Matthew Alan Edwards #4266213. Published by Matthew Alan Edwards (A0.898551). Now offering 25% off my SMP price at MatthewAlanEdwards.com/op-7 !Canzona alla terza Verbum supernum prodiens was composed late one night after I was inspired by the chant melody as found in the Hymnal 1982, hymn 63. Rather than compose on the computer as I usually do, I wrote by hand as I determined the best four-part canonic treatment for each of the phrases of the chant. Composing this was akin to assembling a puzzle, both in mindset (this note fits best here) and addictive quality (need to finish this now!). Originally conceived as a short organ piece, I quickly chose to add the English text from the Hymnal 1982 then text directly from the Liber Usualis, a Catholic book of Gregorian chants commonly used until the reforms of the Second Vatican Council (Vatican II). This piece is similar in style to an Italian Renaissance canzona or early German Baroque kanon. It should be performed with performance practice of those eras in mind, including lifts after dotted notes, metric accents, and minimal vibrato, especially at cadences. It may be performed in alternatum with one of the choral versions (SATB English, SATB Latin, SSA/TTB Latin, or SSA/TTB English) or with a soloist(s) on the chant or as an organ solo. I have provided the first line of chant below and all six verses in Latin with translations on the next page. The SSA Latin version was adapted from the original SATB version for the women of the Hillcrest High School choral program under the direction of Dr. Khristi Motley in Tuscaloosa, Alabama. It reduces the original four-voice setting to three voices without sacrificing any canonic entrances. Either the two-staff or single-staff version may be performed by solo organ. In the single-staff version, stem direction decisions were made primarily for readability, not to show voice leading. Refer to the four-part, two-staff version for voice leading questions. Also available as SSA/TTB in Latin or English. SATB Latin/English versions coming soon!

Organ - advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q7131 Von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit. Composed by Enjott Schneider. This edition: Sheet music. Downloadable. Duration 24 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q7131. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q7131). Each organ symphony by Enjott Schneider has its own colour and its own theme. Organ Symphony No. 7 'Von Ewigkeit zu Ewigkeit' is dominated by the theme of 'time': from the flowing rumbling of time in ancient beginnings ('In principio' - 1st movement) and periodic to the intellectually incomprehensible revolving ('Zeit der Sterne' - 2nd movement). After the third movement ('Zeit des Menschen'), a valse triste, infused by an almost humorous hectic atmosphere, the symphony ends with a kind of 'Amen!' in the fourth movement. Schneider sums it up: 'It is good as it is, we do not understand the course of time anyway.' With regard to style, his composition is based on elements of minimal music which he combines with the tradition of the European organ composition; it is at the same time a testimony to the composer's flexibility and versatility.

Organ - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1347007 Composed by John Burkett. Arranged by John Burkett. Classical,Contemporary,Sacred. Score. 7 pages. John Burkett #931797. Published by John Burkett (A0.1347007). My setting of the hymn tune Diademata ('Crown Him with Many Crowns') consists of three treatments of the tune.  The first begins with a brief introduction, followed by the tune (played on a trumpet-en-chamade stop), contrasted with a rhythmically active accompaniment.  After a brief modulatory interlude, the second treatment offers a stately 4-voice harmonization for manuals alone.  Another brief interlude then modulates back to the original tonic.  The final treatment in 12/8 meter presents the tune in long, ponderous notes in the pedal, while a 2-voice accompaniment in the hands provides a sprightly stream of eighth-notes that serve as a counterweight.  I have provided a full-length recording to aid the prospective buyer in the decision-making process.  I encourage you to search the Sheet Music Plus or the Sheet Music Direct website for other hymn arrangements of mine, some for organ and others for  piano.

Organ - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.932687 Composed by G P Sante d'Palestrina/William Monk, Joachim Neander, and Robert Lowry. Arranged by Terry M. Forsyth. Christian,Easter,Instructional,Sacred. Score. 9 pages. Forsyth Publishing #6113049. Published by Forsyth Publishing (A0.932687). Used as Easter prelude and postlude in different years, this composition uses this hymn as the primary hymn to include first line in canon but also intertwines Lo, In the Grave He Lay using some pedal double counterpoint during plus The Strife Is O'er with all three melodies involved during the ending to include simultaneous play of first lines of two hymns..  This 7.00 minute composition is somewhat challenging but not greatly difficult.  A great blend of classical structure while using hymns people know.  Very, very well received after played as prelude.  Tune names:  Neander, Victory, Christ Arose

Organ - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1181009 By Angela Birkhead-Flight. By Angela Birkhead-Flight. Arranged by Angela Birkhead-Flight. Classical. Score. 7 pages. Angela Birkhead-Flight #780839. Published by Angela Birkhead-Flight (A0.1181009). This toccata draws inspiration from the many written by Johann Pachelbel. The A section dances around the melody of the hymn tune Lambillotte commonly known as Come, Holy Ghost. The transition to the B section incorporates the pedal point technique commonly used by Pachelbel, as well as motifs that overlap and transfer from voice to voice. The transition leads to a lighter section in the dominant minor, after which the main theme is restated in bold chords, followed by a flashy ending. This piece is great for those who are pianist turned organists as the pedal part is easy to learn, and was written to be used on the Feast of Pentecost.

Organ - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.576013 Composed by David Warin Solomons. Contemporary. Score. 7 pages. David Warin Solomons #44019. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.576013). This is one of a suite of organ pieces composed by David W Solomons performed by David Carlston Williams for a CD in June 2015 The suggested order for this suite is: 1. Passacaglia: based on an ostinato passage in 3 time. The idea behind the passacaglia relates to the origin of the word, it is basically a gentle stroll down the street (pasar la calle in Spanish, which was converted into Passacaglia in Italian) 2. Dorina: a descriptive piece in Dorian mode based on a song about a cat, from the aptly named village of Chattevoix, who stalks, but never catches, a little bird. 3. Playtime: also about a cat, the composer's own cat who is playful and rushes around the house but occasionally stopping to pummel the soft furnishings. 4. Early Evening in Camden Town: a more serious and sad piece - in 3-3-2 time. It is an evocation of the poor folk in Camden and their dreams of what could be, if only….. It was originally a song, which the composer wrote when he was living in London, based on a poem by fellow Londoner Sandra Erös The streets are part of a toy town, waiting to be played with…. 5. The Bishop's Dance: a curious and comical piece in 11 time (3, 3, 3, 2). It comes from the legend of Robin Hood, in which Robin meets the bishop of Hereford, who had hoped to get the better of him, but Robin prevails and forces him to dance. The clumsy attempts of the ungainly Bishop to obey Robin's commands cause great merriment among the merry men To quote our vicar, Rev Barbara, after the recital For me music paints a picture, and, for that, I have got this picture of someone going for a stroll in their village and then they came across a very old cat wandering down the street imaging it could catch birds but never catching them. And then it would lie down for a sleep and dream of the days when it was a kitten.... It was a very reflective programme and turns our mind about What for the Autumn, what do we need to do next.. it really did fit in with the mood of the year, as we turn towards building up the programme for next year... So thank you, it gave us time to reflect in a very beautiful manner.... The rest of the suite is also available on this site: separately (with performances by David Carlston Williams) and as a set (with David's performance of Passacaglia).

Instrumental Solo,Organ - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1399319 Composed by Robert A. Howard. 21st Century,Christian,Easter,Lent,Sacred. Individual part. 7 pages. Robert A. Howard #982587. Published by Robert A. Howard (A0.1399319). 'Postlude in Glory' was specifically written for John Hosking and the first Blackburn Cathedral Composition Competition in 2023. The brief was to compose a Postlude to be played at the end of the Easter Day service, and to use a well known Easter melody. The piece begins with an introduction based on piling fourths, around the opening three notes of the ensuing theme upon which the work is based: 'Melchoir Vulpius' (1609), otherwise known as the hymn tune 'The Strife is O'er'. There follows a set of variations on this theme; initially featuring an Alberti bass, then a variant with the melody in canon in the pedals, then followed by a tonic minor key version, and then a 'scherzando' variation using 5/8 metre in the subdominant. After a return of the introductory build-up, a final 'brillante' version of the theme is stated, complete with fanfares, followed by a victorious coda. The work is highly accessible and can be performed by higher-grade students and professional players.Duration: 5 minutes.Registered with PRS (Performing Rights Society, UK).Composer's website: www.roberthowardmusic.co.uk
