This work is built on a theme of the late Virginia composer, Ludwig Liehn. Commissioned for the 2009 Mid-Atlantic Regional Convention of the American Guild of Organists, it has six movemements: Intrada (2 versions are printed), Ostinato, Celestes, Aria, Interlude, and Toccata. The first five movements are varied in style and mood. The final movement is a fiery toccata. This accessible and captivating piece has been featured on American Public Media's Pipedreams program, and recently received its European premiere at the Cathedral of Notre Dame in Paris.

Here is a setting of three hymns played during Holy Communion in most churches. These are arranged for the organ, both pipe or electronic. Hammond Organ registrations included.
Break Thou the Bread of Christ, Let Us Break Bread Together and the famous O Sacred Head Now Wounded attributed to J.S Bach. They are arranged for intermediate organists as well as advanced, since the music played at this time of the service is usually simplistic in nature. I use singles note melodies accompanied with soft string celestes. Suspended chordal harmonies throughout.

Chorale Prelude on Veni Creator Spiritus (composed 2023, duration ca. 4’ 20�) is a gentle, multi-sectional work that presents the hymn tune in a variety of textures. Harmonies are tinted with jazz influences, and registrations are dominated by gauzy, diaphanous flutes and celestes. The overall mood is thoughtful, hopeful, and serene.

Over the past couple of years I have written a number of film music transcriptions on and for the organ of the Royal Albert Hall in London. While the transcriptions are written with this organ in mind, often calling for specific colours such as the bass drum, carillons or tubular bells, they are adaptable on a number of different instruments and I’ve loved tweaking them in order to play them on organs all across the world. I hope you enjoy playing them as much as I’ve enjoyed writing them! 

When I was a teenager, my dad and brother would often choose the films we’d watch. When they chose Pirates of the Caribbean I was a bit sceptical at first because I thought it might be too scary, but I quickly fell in love with the film and its soundtrack – it became my favourite film series and I ended up listening to the soundtrack almost every day on the walk to and from school. In the films, the character of Davy Jones plays an iconic organ on his ship, the Flying Dutchman – I think it’s one of the most well-known organ references in contemporary cinema, and so it is one of my most requested pieces. I I also love the fact that Hans Zimmer includes a little nod to Bach’s Toccata in D minor, another piece which sits at the top of my request list. In the film, the start and end of this piece is played by a musical locket, perfectly replicated by the Celeste stop on the organ, although if a Celeste stop isn’t available then a soft 8’ flute would do the job!

This 3.75 minute arrangement first states the first line of the hymn a few times then continues so when the line reaches the end of the phrase and holds, the material giving the rest to what the ear hears as the resting spots of the melodic statement finds the melody restated to provide the ear its resting, resulting in a constant infusion thus, a litany. Using the voix celeste, this is a very well received writing.  It happens the day after I finished this my mother passed.  I have used this as prelude and offertory.  Good for students needing help with learning legato.  A favorite of my congregation, I always am thanked by someone each time it is presented for having played it.  Good instruction for providing easy pedal part that slowly spans from Eb1 to F3 then back to Eb1 by step progression.  Tune name:  Slane.

This 2:54 composition for organ solo has extensive use of right hand simultaneously playing two keyboards and lots of imitative counterpoint.  This starts with voix celeste and english horn yet ending up with great excitement and volume when the chorus is arrived.  Easy pedals.  Great learning piece for adding a new improvisation tool to one's improvisation capacity.  Reverent when soft, exciting with volume/crescendo pedal growth. .

This Good Friday composition of 2 minutes uses the accompanying figure for the JS Bach composition A Voice Saith 'All Are Mortal' is used with this hymn with melody in pedal.  The concept is by the men doing their job of performing crucifixions seem to have had no idea who was one of the men they were to crucify that day--Jesus was just another victim of their day's work.  The voix celeste is indicated because if this were orchestrated in the baroque period, the accompanying figure would be strings so it is here.  Great for congregations where music is restricted to hymns people know, also good for students learning use of pedalboard because slow meter yet relatively constant movement.  Hymn tune:  Herzliebster Jesu.

A four-movement work based on the tune, Wachet auf, for organ solo. Moderately difficult. Suitable for prelude, postlude, offertory, recital.

I. A voice calls to us (4'). A forceful opening movement in overture style.
II. Rejoice, O Zion (3'20). A light, playful, 6/8 movement with double pedal serving as melody and bass, accompanied by two lively voices in the manuals.
III. Meditation (9'). A quiet movement in which the melody soars via a 2' flute above a string celeste accompaniment.
IV. Glory to God (3'30). A fugue whose theme is based on the opening and closing phrases of the tune.
