Prelude and Fugue on ’Dix’, the tune to which the Christmas carol ’As With Gladness Men of Old’ is sung, consists of a prelude in the style of a stately fanfare and march depicting the majesty of the kings as they make their way to Bethlehem and a fugue in which a variation of the first part of the hymn tune forms the subject which climaxes with a return of the fanfare of the prelude. Although the indicated registration is for three manuals, both movements can be played on two manuals. As the tune is occasionally sung to other hymns at various times of the year, this prelude and fugue is also suitable for other times of the year.

A meditative organ prelude on the melody to which ’Morning Has Broken’ is often sung, consisting of flowing flute passages, which incorporate episodes of the well known Gaelic melody played on a softly voiced solo reed stop. It is written on four staves to make it easier to read because three staves required too many confusing clef changes and other indications on the score. It needs to be played with expression and feeling. However, if two staves are preferred, it is also the second variation of my 'Air and Variations On a Gaelic Melody', in which it is written on two staves.

An air and four contrasting variations on ’Brother James’ Air’, a hymn tune composed by James Leith Bain, who was a Scottish minister at the end of the 19th and beginning of the 20th century and known as Brother James. The first three variations are in the style of John Stanley, the fourth variation is a two part canon.

Although the suggested stop registration is for three manuals and is only a guide. All movements only require a small number of light stops and therefore can very effectively be played on a small two manual instrument.

’Reflections’, for organ consists of three contrasting meditative movements. The first movement is a meditative adagio, which needs to be played with much feeling, followed by a quite energetic allegretto, which is mainly in 5/4, and ending with an andante expressivo, which is in the style of a tuneful aria. Although the suggested registration for last movement is for three manuals, it can easily be played on two manuals. playing time for each movement is: Adagio Expressivo - 3 min, Allegretto - 2 min, Andante Expressivo - 4 min, a total of 9 min for the whole suite.
