The well-ornamented tune is in the right hand, and is supported by some very active counterpoint in the left hand and pedals. The harmony is fresh, and the whole atmosphere is gentle, yet full of joy.

My setting of the hymn tune Diademata ('Crown Him with Many Crowns') consists of three treatments of the tune.  The first begins with a brief introduction, followed by the tune (played on a trumpet-en-chamade stop), contrasted with a rhythmically active accompaniment.  After a brief modulatory interlude, the second treatment offers a stately 4-voice harmonization for manuals alone.  Another brief interlude then modulates back to the original tonic.  The final treatment in 12/8 meter presents the tune in long, ponderous notes in the pedal, while a 2-voice accompaniment in the hands provides a sprightly stream of eighth-notes that serve as a counterweight.  I have provided a full-length recording to aid the prospective buyer in the decision-making process.  I encourage you to search the Sheet Music Plus or the Sheet Music Direct website for other hymn arrangements of mine, some for organ and others for  piano.

Although not necessarily difficult, they do take some working out. The results will be well worth it. The collection contains a rousing prelude on TRURO; a toccata on EASTER HYMN; two variants on O FILII ET FILIAE; trumpet tune on DIADEMATA; and a quieter trio on VRUECHTEN. Matthew Corl writes in an ebullient style that is both fun to play and fun to hear.
