The famous French organ composer also was a piano virtuoso and wrote his Grand Galop Brillant as a highlight for his piano concerts. Galop was a quick dance of the time and very popular, the most popular piano Galop being  the Grand Galop chromatique de F. Liszt. The transcription for organ just made a few modifications necessary to add this funny piece to the organ repertory
