Organ - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.534661 Composed by Claude Debussy/Robert Orledge. 20th Century,Concert,Halloween. Score. 16 pages. Musik Fabrik Music Publishing #5739561. Published by Musik Fabrik Music Publishing (A0.534661). Over the years 1908–16, Debussy had produced a viable scenario for Usher on his third attempt. But when he came to making a complete draft of the music, he seems to have lost interest during Roderick Usher’s long monologue, even though he was setting his own text. As in No-ja-li he jumped to the next passage that interested him, in this case the exciting final melodrama and the collapse of the Usher house itself. In the process of completing the missing half of the score, I discovered that by reusing Debussy’s material for similar psychological situations across the opera, and by metamorphosing existing ideas (as Debussy does with Mélisande’s theme in his opera Pelléas et Mélisande), the only things I really needed to add were linking material and any passages where fast music was required. So the ‘nightmare scherzo’, and Lady Madeline’s escape from her coffin and her final bloody revenge on her brother are all mine, but most of the rest is existing Debussy in changing contexts (in which the Russian technique of ‘changing backgrounds’, both harmonic and textural, proved extremely useful, as it did to Debussy in his Prélude à l’après-midi d’un faune). Eventually, both my completed ballet No-ja-li and the House of Usher were successfully premiered in 2006 and the latter soon began to find its way into the established repertoire in Europe and the US. To further support this, I transcribed some of the highlights of Debussy’s score as A Night in the House of Usher for organ, and subsequently piano—with a focus on Scene 2 and the final, horrific and maca-bre melodrama. This climaxes in the double deaths of Roderick Usher and his Sister Madeline, together with the disintegration of the ill-fated House of Usher into the stagnant lake-all beneath a blood-red moon.In this form it was first performed by Ian Buckle in the Howard Assembly Rooms, Leeds in 2010.

Organ - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.549915 Composed by James M. Guthrie. Contemporary,Instructional. Score. 3 pages. Jmsgu3 #3911787. Published by jmsgu3 (A0.549915). In Nomine: A prelude to the St Luke Organ Book (by Daniel Pinkham) for one single organ manual. Subtitled The Little Time Machine, the composition features one iteration of the In Nomine cantus firmus. As the piece progresses, the cantus is treated in medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, classical, romantic, and modern styles. I performed this piece just before the world premiere of Daniel Pinkham's St. Luke Organ Book in 2006.The history of In Nomine is rooted in its origin as a type of contrapuntal instrumental composition by 16th-century English composers, usually for a consort of viols, lute, or keyboard, based on a version of a piece of plainchant. The name In Nomine was adopted for this type of piece after the English composer John Taverner composed an instrumental piece based on the plainchant Gloria Tibi Trinitas to which he set the words In nomine Domini in his Gloria Tibi Trinitas six-voice Mass. Over the next 150 years, English composers worked this melody into In Nomine pieces of ever more fantastic stylistic range. This set a fashion, and several 20th-century composers, such as Peter Maxwell Davies and Roger Smalley, have quoted In Nomines in their works. The In Nomine played a significant role in developing English polyphony. It is a title given to many pieces of English polyphonic, predominantly instrumental music, first composed during the 16th century. The In Nomine was the chief means by which the grand tradition of vocal polyphony was brought to bear on the evolution of instrumental music in England. The In Nomine is considered the most conspicuous single form in the early development of English consort music and is significant in the genesis of chamber music in England. It marked the first time a specific instrumental style was formed, and it influenced the development of English polyphony by bringing the tradition of vocal polyphony into the realm of instrumental music.Despite various attempts by scholars to elucidate its almost legendary origin, the mystery of the origin of the In Nomine remains unsolved.

Organ - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q20840 Composed by Bertold Hummel. This edition: Sheet music. Downloadable. Op. 91a. Duration 26 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q20840. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q20840). The three-movement piece refers to Bruckner's music in different ways: in the first movement, Hummel used the initials A-B and the beginning of the main theme from Symphony No. 8; in the second movement, the first four tones of the 'Adagio' from Symphony No. 9 play a major role, and the third movement, a toccata-like finale, gets its life from further tone sequences and motifs of Bruckner. The work ends in a majestic climax. This piece is a rather demanding, yet rewarding piece for any interpreter, and its performance in the church is extremely effective.

Organ - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.912506 Composed by Thomas R. Schadl. Concert,Contemporary,Easter,Spiritual,Standards. Score. 5 pages. Thomas R. Schadl #6519091. Published by Thomas R. Schadl (A0.912506). My inspiration for writing this music came from listening to Jehan Alain’s (1911-1940) organ piece CHORAL DORIEN. The work begins softly and builds up sound intensity until it reaches the climax, depicting the longing for joy and peace to come. After the climactic part of the piece is stated, the sound intensity begins to decrease and concludes in a major key. The work is suitable for recital purposes, and may also be performed in church-related events, such as the Lenten and Good Friday services. Organ registrations and tempo indications are only suggestions.

Organ - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1139501 Composed by Alex. Guilmant. Arranged by Phil Beaman. March,Romantic Period,Standards. Score. 11 pages. Phil Beaman #739789. Published by Phil Beaman (A0.1139501). I wrote this piece to use as the opening piece for an organ dedication recital I was playing. I admired this March by Alexander Guilmant, but that piece opened softly and I wanted a bold opening; so I expanded and arranged the piece, using Guilmant's own material, and created new beginning sections so that I could open the dedication concert with trumpets. The piece is now about contrasts as I have changed tempi, dynamics, registrations, and textures to alternate with each section. Many colours of the organ are shown, from reeds to flutes, from mp to tutti. The piece builds to a full and vigorous Tutti climax. 11 pages; 5:45 minutes.

Organ - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.912488 Composed by Thomas R. Schadl. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary,Standards. Score. 20 pages. Thomas R. Schadl #3241715. Published by Thomas R. Schadl (A0.912488). Fantasia And Passacaglia On A Mighty Fortress Is Our God for organ is written in celebration of the five hundredth anniversary of the Reformation in Europe. Consisting of the free-form introduction and passacaglia, the piece is based on Martin Luther's hymn tune, and is written in a modern musical idiom that somewhat resembles the style of Max Reger's and Louis Vierne's works for organ, take for example Reger's Fantasia On A Mighty Fortress Is Our God, and Vierne's Sixth Organ Symphony. The Fantasia is suitable for recital use, and employs a wide range of organ registrations that displays various tonal colors and sound intensities. The introduction starts with full of energy and concludes with softer registrations. The passacaglia starts off quietly and builds up sound intensity toward its conclusion, symbolizing victory of good over evil. The metronome marks and organ registrations on some pages are suggestions only, because each organ has different tonal qualities and the acoustics in buildings and halls may influence how organist perform the piece. Fantasia And Passacaglia On A Mighty Fortress Is Our God may take anywhere between thirteen and fifteen minutes to perform.

Organ - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q20178 Sleepers Wake. Composed by Carl Friedrich Zelter. This edition: separate part. Choral Treasury. Downloadable, Individual part. Schott Music - Digital #Q20178. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q20178). German. With Carl Friedrich Zelter's motet Wachet auf, ruft uns die Stimme, Hermann Max, editor of the Choral Treasury series, has uncovered a real treasure. The three-verse text of the motet for mixed choir (SATB) and basso continuo was written by Friedrich Gottlob Klopstock who kept close to the Advent song of the same name by Philipp Nicolai. During Zelter's lifetime, the motet enjoyed great popularity. And quite rightly so: For the music teacher and friend of Goethe turned out to be a composer with an extraordinary sense of tone. An introductory choral movement is followed by a captivating bass aria which can be optionally sung by all basses of the choir. The piece culminates in an elaborate virtuoso fugue with an interwoven cantus firmus in the bass. A demanding, yet highly rewarding rarity in church music!

PRELUDE AND TOCCATA for ORGANTotal playing time: Appx. 5:00 Concert venue: Autumn, All Saints/All Souls, Any The dark yet exciting textures lend themselves well to late autumn, and the prayerful qualities of the Prelude and the Toccata’s interlude also give honor to the celebrations of All Saints and All Souls. Due to its length and the style of the music itself … I have been complimented/flattered by comments that it is in the style of Max Reger although it was not my intention to emulate his style … I see this as a concert piece as opposed to a piece to be played within church services.
