Organ - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1242556 By James Michael Stevens. By James Michael Stevens. Arranged by James Michael Stevens. 20th Century,21st Century,Classical,Contemporary,Easter. Score. 4 pages. James M Stevens Music ASCAP #837689. Published by James M Stevens Music ASCAP (A0.1242556). Written June 1, 2023, this is an original organ composition in a dissonant and modern style with somewhat of an atonal feel. It uses an internal drone of a B and F which holds continuously to the very end with keyboard weights to be placed on the keys freeing both hands to play around it. It also uses many dissonant and parallel intervals such as tritones, 4ths and 5ths, some whole tone passages, yet somewhat built on a tritone substitution using a D flat 13 chord which substitutes for the dominant chord of C major with the last chord resolving to C using a C major 13(#11). The YouTube performance is by Carson Cooman who is performing this piece on a concert at Harvard University on July 19, 2023. James Michael Stevens is a prolific composer residing in Nashville, TN and whose organ works are performed around the world.

Organ - intermediate to advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q50149 Motet after Friedrich Rückert for Double Male Choir (Organ ad lib.). Composed by Robert Schumann. This edition: separate part. Downloadable, Individual part. Op. 93. Schott Music - Digital #Q50149. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q50149). German. At first described as 'religious song' by Schumann, the motet 'Verzweifle nicht' could be heard with organ accompaniment for the first time on 4 July 1850 on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the University's choral society St. Pauli in Leipzig. He wrote the organ version specifically for this performance for he had originally planned an orchestral accompaniment. That, however, could only be completed later and was eventually premiered in 1853. In a letter to Schumann, Herrmann Langer, the conductor of both world premieres, mentioned 'the wonderful effect which the same has produced' and that, to him, 'the motet was one of the most stimulating and inspiring creations in male-voice literature'.

Organ - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1188927 Composed by Karen Beaumont. Christian,Classical,Contemporary. Score. 6 pages. Karen Beaumont #788540. Published by Karen Beaumont (A0.1188927). Organ prelude on the tune Beauty,a tune newly composed for the 19th century hymn text Worship the Lord in the Beauty of Holiness. Hymn included with the score.Text:1 O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness, bow down before him, his glory proclaim;with gold of obedience and incense of lowliness, kneel and adore him the Lord is his name.2 Low at his feet lay your burden of carefulness, high on his heart he will bear it for you, comfort your sorrows and answer your prayerfulness, guiding your steps in the way that is true.3 Fear not to enter his courts in the slendernessof the poor wealth you would count as your own;truth in its beauty and love in its tendernessthese are the offerings to bring to his throne.4 These, though we bring them in trembling and fearfulness,he will accept for the name that is dear;mornings of joy give for evenings of tearfulness, trust for our trembling and hope for our fear.5 O worship the Lord in the beauty of holiness, bow down before him, his glory proclaim;with gold of obedience and incense of lowliness, kneel and adore him the Lord is his name.

Organ - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1347007 Composed by John Burkett. Arranged by John Burkett. Classical,Contemporary,Sacred. Score. 7 pages. John Burkett #931797. Published by John Burkett (A0.1347007). My setting of the hymn tune Diademata ('Crown Him with Many Crowns') consists of three treatments of the tune.  The first begins with a brief introduction, followed by the tune (played on a trumpet-en-chamade stop), contrasted with a rhythmically active accompaniment.  After a brief modulatory interlude, the second treatment offers a stately 4-voice harmonization for manuals alone.  Another brief interlude then modulates back to the original tonic.  The final treatment in 12/8 meter presents the tune in long, ponderous notes in the pedal, while a 2-voice accompaniment in the hands provides a sprightly stream of eighth-notes that serve as a counterweight.  I have provided a full-length recording to aid the prospective buyer in the decision-making process.  I encourage you to search the Sheet Music Plus or the Sheet Music Direct website for other hymn arrangements of mine, some for organ and others for  piano.

Organ - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.912466 Composed by Thomas R. Schadl. 20th Century,Concert,Contemporary,Standards. Score. 16 pages. Thomas R. Schadl #1910845. Published by Thomas R. Schadl (A0.912466). Written in E, the work consist of two themes that have hymn-like and chorale qualities interspersed with lighthearted passages that depict the strength and weakness of human nature. The first theme resembles a melody of the ancient church; the melody has a mystical quality depicting God's majesty. The transition is light in content as it gives a listener a break from the serious mood of the first theme. The second theme is a chorale and is chordal in texture; it resembles a church hymn sung in many churches. Moreover, the second theme is written in B Flat Major, depicting one's praising God in spirit; the general mood is quiet. Following that section is the transition that gradually builds up excitement before the restatement of the first theme. The second theme is restated in E Major, but its longer note values are placed over the repeated bass and chordal patterns, a style that many composers use in their works, including Igor Stravinsky's L'Histoire Du Soldat. Once again, the lighthearted transitional passage recurs before the chimes start to strike four times. Following the chimes, the chorale is stated in E Major and begins quietly and builds up power as the work nears its ending; the chorale, unlike its first statement depicts the singing of praise with joy. This piece may be performed in concert halls and churches; it could give people fond memories of recitalists who enjoy bringing excitement to the public.

Organ - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1512245 By Markus Dreja. By Lowell Mason (1792-1872). Arranged by Markus Dreja. Christian,Classical,Praise & Worship,Religious,Sacred. Score. 3 pages. Markus Dreja #1087296. Published by Markus Dreja (A0.1512245). Er nennt den Ort Bet-El (Bethel), Haus Gottes (Gen 28,10–19 EU).“Näher mein Gott zu dir” is one of the most famous Christian hymns. It is based on the 1841 poem Nearer, My God, to Thee by the English poet Sarah Flower Adams. The poem was set to music with various melodies, the best known being Bethany by Lowell Mason. The chant is often sung or played at funerals, especially in the English-speaking world, and has been on everyone's lips since the film Titanic. The biblical background of the text is the story of Jacob's dream of the ladder to heaven in Genesis. Jacob has gone to sleep on a stone and finds strength in his severe distress through the dream vision. He calls the place Bet-El (Bethel), house of God (Gen 28:10-19 EU).

Organ - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.576013 Composed by David Warin Solomons. Contemporary. Score. 7 pages. David Warin Solomons #44019. Published by David Warin Solomons (A0.576013). This is one of a suite of organ pieces composed by David W Solomons performed by David Carlston Williams for a CD in June 2015 The suggested order for this suite is: 1. Passacaglia: based on an ostinato passage in 3 time. The idea behind the passacaglia relates to the origin of the word, it is basically a gentle stroll down the street (pasar la calle in Spanish, which was converted into Passacaglia in Italian) 2. Dorina: a descriptive piece in Dorian mode based on a song about a cat, from the aptly named village of Chattevoix, who stalks, but never catches, a little bird. 3. Playtime: also about a cat, the composer's own cat who is playful and rushes around the house but occasionally stopping to pummel the soft furnishings. 4. Early Evening in Camden Town: a more serious and sad piece - in 3-3-2 time. It is an evocation of the poor folk in Camden and their dreams of what could be, if only….. It was originally a song, which the composer wrote when he was living in London, based on a poem by fellow Londoner Sandra Erös The streets are part of a toy town, waiting to be played with…. 5. The Bishop's Dance: a curious and comical piece in 11 time (3, 3, 3, 2). It comes from the legend of Robin Hood, in which Robin meets the bishop of Hereford, who had hoped to get the better of him, but Robin prevails and forces him to dance. The clumsy attempts of the ungainly Bishop to obey Robin's commands cause great merriment among the merry men To quote our vicar, Rev Barbara, after the recital For me music paints a picture, and, for that, I have got this picture of someone going for a stroll in their village and then they came across a very old cat wandering down the street imaging it could catch birds but never catching them. And then it would lie down for a sleep and dream of the days when it was a kitten.... It was a very reflective programme and turns our mind about What for the Autumn, what do we need to do next.. it really did fit in with the mood of the year, as we turn towards building up the programme for next year... So thank you, it gave us time to reflect in a very beautiful manner.... The rest of the suite is also available on this site: separately (with performances by David Carlston Williams) and as a set (with David's performance of Passacaglia).
