Organ - Level 5 - Digital Download SKU: A0.909270 Composed by Vidas Pinkevicius. Christian,Contemporary,Sacred. Score. 8 pages. Vidas Pinkevicius #3540609. Published by Vidas Pinkevicius (A0.909270). In the fall of 2013 my friend and colleague, Paulius Grigonis who is the organist at St Joseph church here in Vilnius was preparing to play a recital at Vilnius Cathedral around Christmas time. He approached me asking for advice about the pieces he could be playing.I offered him to compose a set of 6 variations on the famous Christmas tune Adeste fideles and he agreed too much hesitation (too bad).I started working on the composition but got stuck at the end of the 5th variation. I used major and minor chords only. My goal was to create something colorful and modern and yet understandable to the listener.Because of these simple chords the harmonies are very clear and transparent. What makes it sound modern though is that I avoid traditional chordal progressions of the perfect fourth and perfect fifth. This would imply tonic-dominant, dominant-tonic, tonic-subdominant, subdominant-tonic relationship. But I didn't want this. I wanted to surprise my audience and my friend Paulius. So I chose all kinds of progressions - minor and major seconds, minor and major thirds, even a tritone to keep it fresh. However, the result was too difficult to play for Paulius on a short notice and I got side-tracked with other projects. Although the idea of completing the variations never left me.So last weekend I sat down and added the last variation with a CODA.I hope you'll enjoy this piece which is dedicated to Paulius.8 pages, PDF score. Advanced level.

In July 2019, Lithuanian organist Paulius Grigonis discovered a previously unpublished composition by Juozas Naujalis, entitled Communio “Jesus, Jesus, Come to Meâ€, which was preserved at the Lithuanian Theater, Music and Film Museum. The very end of the manuscript bears the inscription of the place and time of its creation: Å venÄionÄ—liai, October 30, 1914. The newly discovered piece was premiered on August 22, 2019, at the Vilnius Cathedral.Juozas Naujalis (1869–1934) – Lithuanian composer and organist. In 1892, he was appointed organist and choir leader at the Kaunas Cathedral, a position he held until his death. Naujalis became actively involved in organizing local musical societies and institutions. As an outcome of his groundbreaking work, a number of important private entities, such as the first boys’ choir in Lithuania based at the Archcathedral Basilica in Kaunas, courses and the school for organists (1911), the first legal Lithuanian bookshop and music publishing house in Kaunas (1905–1912), the first music magazine Vargonininkas (The Organist) and calendars for organists published in Lithuanian (1909–1910), and the music school in Kaunas (1919), have been launched. In 1908, he founded the Children Society and St. Gregory Society for Organists, which was later reorganised into St. Cecilia Society for church musicians (1924). Naujalis was also the first Lithuanian composer to achieve recognition abroad. His church music was published in Regensburg, Warsaw, St. Petersburg, Leipzig and Paris. In recognition of his merits in the field of church music he was made Commander of the Order of the Crown of Italy in Rome, in 1929. A total of 29 organ pieces by Naujalis were recorded at the Archcathedral Basilica in Kaunas in 2019.

Organ - Digital Download SKU: A0.909275 Composed by Vidas Pinkevicius. 20th Century,Contemporary. Score. 4 pages. Vidas Pinkevicius #3540619. Published by Vidas Pinkevicius (A0.909275). (2017-06-05) I have just finished editing my Op. 39 - Festive Processional for organ (4 pages, PDF file). It's dedicated to my friend and colleague Paulius Grigonis, Titular Organist at St Joseph church in Vilnius, Lithuania. He will be performing an organ music concert at the Cathedral in Vilnius in the summer of 2017 and he needed a short 3 minute piece to start the event with a joyful mood.So I thought it would be fun to compose a Festive Processional for this occasion specifically designed for a 3 manual organ (but 2 manuals would work just fine too).I hope you'll enjoy this piece! It starts and ends in C major but who knows what's happening in the middle.Just kidding...It has ABCBA form with C being central and longest episode.PS People who like tricky rhythms and syncopations will enjoy it a lot...

Instrumental Solo,Pipe Organ - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1250967 By Indrė Gerikaitė. By Juozas Naujalis. Arranged by Balys Vaitkus. Classical,Religious,Romantic Period. Individual part. 2 pages. Nacionaline vargonininku asociacija #845258. Published by Nacionaline vargonininku asociacija (A0.1250967). Manuscript of Trio No. 5 has been stored in the archives of Lithuanian Theater, Music and Film Museum together with the unfinished Prelude No. 6. It seems, that these were some pages from a larger lost collection of pieces. The manuscript of Trio No. 5 was discovered in 2019 by Lithuanian organist Paulius Grigonis. At present this is its first known publication. The name Trio is slightly inaccurate for this piece, because its right hand has two voices almost throughout (33 bars out of 44 bars), which is led by the left hand and pedals. As given in the original source, the present publication maintains the free migration between the written out two-voice-texture and intervals written as one voice (bars 7, 8, 23).Juozas Naujalis (1869–1934) – Lithuanian composer and organist. Organ - intermediate to advanced - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q50149 Motet after Friedrich Rückert for Double Male Choir (Organ ad lib.). Composed by Robert Schumann. This edition: separate part. Downloadable, Individual part. Op. 93. Schott Music - Digital #Q50149. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q50149). German. At first described as 'religious song' by Schumann, the motet 'Verzweifle nicht' could be heard with organ accompaniment for the first time on 4 July 1850 on the occasion of the 25th anniversary of the University's choral society St. Pauli in Leipzig. He wrote the organ version specifically for this performance for he had originally planned an orchestral accompaniment. That, however, could only be completed later and was eventually premiered in 1853. In a letter to Schumann, Herrmann Langer, the conductor of both world premieres, mentioned 'the wonderful effect which the same has produced' and that, to him, 'the motet was one of the most stimulating and inspiring creations in male-voice literature'.
