The hymn tune O Mein Jesu, Ich Muss Sterben is known to most as the mournful Lenten hymn Stricken, Smitten, and Afflicted.  It is used most often during Holy Week or on Good Friday, due to the text which portrays the crucifixtion of Jesus.  This somber setting can be used for the meditative moments during preservice, communion, or any other Holy Week moment.

The tune O Waly, Waly is an old Scottish tune, known best by the secular text of The water is wide.  In church use, there is a wide variety of texts used, including When Love Is Found, The Gift of Love, and Though I May Speak with Bravest Fire.  This peaceful setting will serve as a gentle prelude or a meditive offertory, with an original melody interspersed with the hymn tune, which is clearly stated.  It was written and composed on a two manual instrument.

This three movement suite is based on the famous Christmas hymn tune Vom Himmel Hoch, most known as From Heaven Above to Earth I Come.  Each movement is based on a line from one of the verses:
1.  Welcome to Earth, O Noble Guest (a regal setting of the tune)
2.  Ah, Dearest Jesus, Holy Child (a peaceful setting)
3.  My Heart for Very Joy Doth Leap (a joyful setting)
The three works could work together as one suite, or used separately with 1 as a prelude, 2 as an offertory, and 3 as a postlude.  It was written as a dedication to Australian organist James Flores for his continued promotion of new organ works.  It was written and recorded on a two manual instrument.  It will hopefully add a wonderful touch to your Christmas or Advent services!  Each movement is also available separately.

This dynamic work is based on the hymn tune Ebenezer, which is usually associated with texts like O the deep, deep love of Jesus or Thy Strong Word.  The tune is instantly recognizable here, and since the piece ends in the key of the hymn, this could also make a great hymn introduction.  It was written on and easily playable on a two manual instrument!

The hymn tune Gelobt Sei Gott (Vulpius) is a very popular Easter hymn, with its joyful Alleluia refrain perfect for the holiday celebration.  There are a variety of texts associated with it, including Ye sons and daughters of the king and The strife is o'er, the battle done.  This festive work was written and recorded on a two manual instrument, and would be a perfect opportunity to feature a trumpet or tuba stop.  I hope you enjoy playing it!
