Organ: 3-staff - Moderately Easy SKU: LO.70-1577S Composed by Gerhard Krapf. Sacred, General, Trinity Sunday. Sacred Music Press #70/1577S. Published by Sacred Music Press (LO.70-1577S). ISBN 9780893283858.Although not really a season in the traditional sense, Trinity Sunday is the first Sunday of the longest season of the liturgical year, lasting until Advent-nearly half of the calendar year. And with many Christian hymns fitting these Sundays, this prominent and venerable composer has crafted 16 organ settings appropriate for this period of time. Useful as separate preludes, offertories and/or postludes within the worship service, or even as extended hymn introductions, they will fill an important niche in the organist's library.

Organ - difficult - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q52740 Version for organ by Leif Thybo (1952). Composed by Igor Stravinsky. Arranged by Leif Thybo. This edition: single sheet. Downloadable, Separate edition. Duration 15 minutes. Schott Music - Digital #Q52740. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q52740). Key: E flat major. The American musical patrons Mildred and Robert Wood Bliss were considering which distinguished composer to commission to create a work in celebration of their 30th wedding anniversary in 1938. The couple had made the acquaintance of Igor Stravinsky in April the preceding year at the première of his ballet Jeu de Cartes in New York and had subsequently invited the composer to their country home ’Dumbarton Oaks’ in Washington D.C. to talk about a new composition. Stravinsky only just managed to complete the work in time for the anniversary celebrations: its date of completion was also the date of its first performance. For his classically styled three-movement work, he selected the title Concerto in E flat, adding the subtitle Dumbarton Oaks as a dedication. The structure of the work references the concerto grosso: it features a soloist ensemble which unites in the tutti sequences but also plays in concertino groups during the solo episodes. Broken chordal structures characterise the central movement whereas the outer movements are distinguished through their use of fugato. Dumbarton Oaks went on to become one of Stravinsky’s most successful works, performed widely and delighting Mildred Bliss so much that she immediately issued another commission, for the Symphony in C. Its composer’s very public commitment to American cultural life helped pave the way for Stravinsky’s emigration to the USA in 1945. As early as 1952 Leif Thybo created an arrangement for organ which Stravinsky probably did not know at the time of his life.Inspired by Bach’s Brandenburg Concertos, Igor Stravinsky’s three-movement concerto ‘Dumbarton Oaks’ is a musical monument to two major American patrons: Mildred and Robert Woods Bliss commissioned this work to mark the 30th anniversary of their wedding. It was performed for the first time at a private celebration at their country house Dumbarton Oaks in Washington, D.C. under the direction of Nadia Boulanger in 1938. As early as 1952 Leif Thybo created an arrangement for organ which Stravinsky probably did not know at the time of his life.

Organ - Digital Download SKU: A0.942949 Composed by Aris Antoniades. Contemporary,Sacred. Score. 20 pages. Aris Antoniades #4346549. Published by Aris Antoniades (A0.942949). Toccata & Fugue for Organ (2018)Composed by Aris AntoniadesRunning time: approx. 7' 50'' Writing for Organ always seemed like a very distant dream for me. Born and raised in Cyprus, an isolated Mediterranean island-state in Europe where the religious musical tradition (Greek Orthodox Christianity) relies solely on voices (no instruments used during services), I never had access to an Organ. In fact, to the best of my knowledge, there’s not a single Organ in my entire country. The first time I ever saw one was during my college years in New York – and it was love at first sight! I was fascinated by its sound capabilities, its mechanism, and the sheer skill required to play it. You can, therefore, understand how thrilled I am to have had the opportunity to write for this great instrument. I would like to sincerely thank Shannon Murphy and Austin Philemon for believing in my work, and for commissioning this piece. Both the Toccata and the Fugue are based on the same (but altered) motivic materials. The Toccata is a piece that was inspired by the idea that life is a continuous marathon, represented by the ‘mechanical’ sixteenth-note ostinato figure which never stops – despite the contrapuntal obstacles that are thrown within its path. The motive, however, does transform and adapt along the way, in order to make the best of the situation.  The Fugue, on the other hand, represents the cerebral aspect of life: the concept of choices. The ostinato motive of the Toccata has now morphed into the subject of the Fugue, which will be attacked by some violent chromatic enemies. Estimated running time: ca. 8 minutesAbout the PDFs:Score size: 14 PagesContact the composer: https://www.arisantoniades.com or aris.antoniades@gmail.com

Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP) #1029223. Published by Adrienne Inglis (ASCAP) (A0.1449467). Organ prelude for Pentecost or any opportunity to celebrate the Spirit!Organist Cathleen Parsley of University Christian Church in Austin, Texas, commissioned the multi-talented Adrienne Inglis to create an organ arrangement of the John L. Bell hymn She Is the Spirit.  In her commentary on the work, Cathie shares: Adrienne’s arrangement is all I could have wished for. It evokes the birds, the sky, the dance, and the possibility of the Spirit referred to in the hymn’s verses. The registration is specific to UCC’s organ, though it will lend itself to any organ. It is a lovely work, written for the day (Pentecost), and it is an honor to play Adrienne’s piece for the first time this morning (May 19, 2024).Arrangement of hymn Thainaky by John L. Organ - difficult - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q6227 Syncretic Version. Composed by Franz Liszt. Arranged by Jean Guillou. This edition: Sheet music. Downloadable. Duration 13' 30. Schott Music - Digital #Q6227. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q6227). In his 'Art of Fugue' Bach himself introduced a theme based on the four letters of his name: the notes we know as Bb A C B correspond to the German note names B A C H. Since that time, many composers have expressed their admiration for incomparable master by writing their own pieces of music on this theme. The work based on this theme by Franz Liszt is without any doubt the most important of them all - indeed, it represents a major landmark in the whole of the organ repertoire. It was composed in 1855 and given its first performance in the cathedral of Merseburg by Alexander Winterberger, to whom the work was dedicated. Liszt produced a second version of the work in 1869/70 and in 1870 he also wrote a piano transcription. It was a pity that the organist should not be able to use the ideas with which Liszt subsequently enriched his own adaptation. That is why, without adding anything that was not written by Liszt himself, Guillou has incorporated everything contained in the organ composition and the piano transcription in this 'syncretic' version of the work.
