This arrangement allows the performer to provide a very effective, emotionally charged rendering of this really beautiful music which has had a well-deserved renaissance following its use in the 2017 film 'Call Me By Your Name'.  The romantic treatment is in the tradition of Virgil Fox's famous version of Bach's Come, Sweet Death (BWV 478).  The simpler Adagissimo makes fewer technical demands on the player but a sensitive performance will be similarly engaging for an audience.  Detailed editorial markings make this a great piece for students to learn how to use nuance to great musical effect - the notes are simple to play in themselves but careful, musical phrasing makes all the difference in performance, including for the concluding Pedal solo.  It's a good recital piece for demonstrating different facets of a medium/large instrument but its simplicity also make it a very useful piece for playing on even the smallest organ.  The highly engaging, mournful tone makes it a useful addition to Holy Week repertoire or for funerals.

During the development the untrained listener is able to keep up with the melodic development.  Pedal line is within reach as composition is moderately paced.  The piece brings classical treatment of a hymn people know and works great with a congregation that likes hearing music on hymns they know.  tune name:  Aurelia.

The anonymous hymn More Love, originated in the Shaker community in Canterbury, New Hampshire in the latter part of the 19th century. Several fine choral treatments of this tune have been published, but I felt  a need for a meditative organ prelude on the tune. This is a lovely, sweet 4-1/2-minute piece to use as a prelude to a sacred service, a wedding,  or as a slow-things-down change of pace in a recital program.

Perfect for Reformation, this dark and brooding organ work is based on the hymn Built on the Rock, the Church Doth Stand, based on the hymn tune Kirken Den Er Et Gammelt Hus, which is also called Lindeman.  Beginning with a darker modal treatment, the piece ends with a toccata style section in triumphant fashion, and the melody is clearly stated throughout.  The work was composed for a two manual instrument and will give you the chance to feature the full, dark sounds of your instrument.  I've included both the 4 page version (to fit on a standard organ stand) and the 5 page version (for a clearer score) for your convenience.
