Organ - difficult - Digital Download SKU: S9.Q6227 Syncretic Version. Composed by Franz Liszt. Arranged by Jean Guillou. This edition: Sheet music. Downloadable. Duration 13' 30. Schott Music - Digital #Q6227. Published by Schott Music - Digital (S9.Q6227). In his 'Art of Fugue' Bach himself introduced a theme based on the four letters of his name: the notes we know as Bb A C B correspond to the German note names B A C H. Since that time, many composers have expressed their admiration for incomparable master by writing their own pieces of music on this theme. The work based on this theme by Franz Liszt is without any doubt the most important of them all - indeed, it represents a major landmark in the whole of the organ repertoire. It was composed in 1855 and given its first performance in the cathedral of Merseburg by Alexander Winterberger, to whom the work was dedicated. Liszt produced a second version of the work in 1869/70 and in 1870 he also wrote a piano transcription. It was a pity that the organist should not be able to use the ideas with which Liszt subsequently enriched his own adaptation. That is why, without adding anything that was not written by Liszt himself, Guillou has incorporated everything contained in the organ composition and the piano transcription in this 'syncretic' version of the work.

Organ - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1406728 By Dr. Sheri L. Masiakowski. By Sr. Theophane Hytrek OSF. Arranged by Dr. Sheri L. Masiakowski. 20th Century,Religious,Sacred. Score. 7 pages. School Sisters of St. Francis #989483. Published by School Sisters of St. Francis (A0.1406728). “The Spirit of the Lord† Sr. Theophane Hytrek OSFDedicated to Robert Verwoert on the occasion of his ordination to the priesthood — May 1971Sr. Theophane Hytrek OSF earned her PhD in composition from the University of Rochester (Eastman School of Music) in 1955.  She is known for a variety of compositional genres, e.g. keyboard (organ and piano), voice, and orchestra. Compositions for voice include masses, responses, psalm settings, hymns for congregation, choral music and solos.TEXT:The Spirit of the Lord is upon us. Send your Spirit upon us in this time and place, the Spirit who gives us comfort, the Spirit who brings light to our eyes, the Spirit who helps us say yes to your summoning Word.Bless us, Father, as you have done before, with the gift of your Spirit that he may stir new life within us.Blest are you in ev'rything that your Spirit makes new, now and for all ages to come. The source of this text is unknown. Though appropriate for Pentecost there is no direct connection to the scripture readings or sacramentary prayers for that Feast. The composition was written in the early years succeeding Vatican II (October 11, 1962 – December 8, 1965), a time of creative freedom. The language is period specific to that time, yet the music is universal.Rehearsal recommendation:The verse text is notated in consistent eighth-notes. Do not interpret this to mean that all syllables are to receive equal time.  Speak the text in natural cadence and then sing the pitches in that same natural cadence.  This will best represent Sr. Theophane’s intention. We invite you to browse other creative works by the School Sisters of St. Francis on our website:  https://www.sssf.org/SSSF/Our-Global-Impact/United-States/Music-Ministry/Catalog-of-Music.htm  Further information about our offerings is available from Dr. Sheri Masiakowski, curator of the Heritage Music Collection, at smasiakowski@sssf.org.

Organ - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.774082 Arranged by Anthony Giamanco. Concert,Contemporary,Easter,Sacred. Score. 8 pages. Whole Tone Press #6657917. Published by Whole Tone Press (A0.774082). Expertly arranged for organ, this work, based on the well-known hymn, ST. FLAVIAN, captures the somber mood of the forty-day journey through the Lenten season. Following the opening march-like fanfare, the familiar melody enters in the right hand above the drone in the left hand. Then the melody appears in the pedal, transposed to G Dorian, then, briefly to A Mixolydian. At the key change, the melody returns to its original form. The opening fanfare returns in an abbreviated form in the coda as the piece ends quietly on a D6/9 chord..Anthony Giamanco is a member of ASCAP. Instrumental Solo,Organ - Digital Download SKU: A0.1372227 Composed by Chris Kovarik. Classical,Praise & Worship,Sacred. Individual part. 8 pages. Chris Kovarik #956492. Published by Chris Kovarik (A0.1372227). Was lebet, was schwebet (composed 2021, duration ca. 5’) is less a chorale prelude, and more a prelude and fugue. The prelude is a free fantasy based mostly on the opening notes of the hymn tune. It alternates short pedal solos with showy figures in the manuals. The fugue is based on the first six measures of the hymn tune, and thoroughly investigates the subject. It concludes in a brief flourish, reminiscent of the opening fantasia. A final fugato presents the entire hymn tune, in augmentation, beginning in the bass (on the pedals) and moving to the soprano. The piece is joyful and exuberant from beginning to end.Technical note: despite the extensive counterpoint and manual flourishes, this piece is quite approachable, being easier, on the whole, than a typical Bach prelude and fugue.

Instrumental Solo,Organ - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.1162902 Composed by Joey Tempest. Arranged by Paul Broadhurst. 20th Century,Contemporary,Pop,Rock,Wedding. Individual part. 6 pages. Molto rubato #763254. Published by Molto rubato (A0.1162902). This striking arrangement is a hugely rewarding piece to play on a large organ with a big Tuba or other solo reed!  This is truly epic music which can be lifted to a whole extra dimension in a large cathedral or concert hall.  The arrangement is both engaging and playable - even the central toccata section sits nicely under the fingers of the average player.  The concept behind this particular arrangement is a rocket being charged for lift-off and then finally breaking free of the lauchpad and heading skywards.  So the piece eventually ends in a striking succession of exuberant, gravity-defeating chords.  A hugely uplifting piece to play as a concert opener or closer, or even as a striking final voluntary after a service to supercharge your emerging congregation!
