Perfect for Reformation, this dark and brooding organ work is based on the hymn Built on the Rock, the Church Doth Stand, based on the hymn tune Kirken Den Er Et Gammelt Hus, which is also called Lindeman.  Beginning with a darker modal treatment, the piece ends with a toccata style section in triumphant fashion, and the melody is clearly stated throughout.  The work was composed for a two manual instrument and will give you the chance to feature the full, dark sounds of your instrument.  I've included both the 4 page version (to fit on a standard organ stand) and the 5 page version (for a clearer score) for your convenience. This is the second movement from A Vom Himmel Hoch Triptych, a three movement work based on the Christmas hymn From Heaven Above to Earth I Come.  This gentle setting is based on the words from a verse which states Ah, Dearest Jesus, Holy Child, and is meant to be calm, serene, and meditative.  The melody is found in the pedal part, while the melody above includes fragments of Divinum Mysterium, better known as Of the father's love begotten.  It was written and recorded on a two manual instrument.  The complete three movement triptych is available on this website as well.  May it add beauty to your Advent and Christmas season!

This work for trombone and organ is part of the 2024 Suite for Trombone and Organ, which is geared toward the younger, less experienced player, with works that can be performed at church services and other occasions.  This Festive March on the Old Hundredth is based on the hymn tune, known to most as Praise God From Whom All Blessings Flow.  It is written in joyful fashion, and could work well as a festive prelude or joyful postlude.  The range is one that a typical high school player (or advanced middle schooler) could play, with rhythms well within the reach of players at that level.  The solo part is well-supported by the organ part, with hopes that rehearsals can be minimal in putting this together for performance.  There are two other movements to this 2024 Suite, both available on this site as well.  Please give that young musician the chance to shine!  Also included is a treble clef part that could be played by trumpet, treble clef baritone, or tenor sax.
