Schadl (A0.912460). Written in G Minor, the piece consists of changing meters and two themes. The first theme starts with the G minor scale that reaches to a perfect fifth above the tonic before descending to the home key. The second theme is related to the first one, but it begins with the perfect-fifth upward movement followed by its stepwise descent, and is written in a fugal manner. The latter half of the work is a toccata written in the style of the late 19th century and early 20th century French organ music; in that section, the pedal division states the main theme against the rapid 16th notes on the manuals in the key of G Major. Technical demands include a good sense of rhythm, a steady beat and a slight legato touch. This movement is suitable for recital and education uses; it may also be performed as a postlude in church services. I wish you the best in taking a look at this piece; so, enjoy it.

Wesley Suite The world is my parish, a set of four contrasting pieces for organ, is a tribute to John and Charles Wesley, 18th century clergymen and co-founders of the Methodist Church. The title Wondering Soul is a reference to the first line of the Wesleys’ Conversion Hymn, Where shall my wondering soul begin? which was written after John Wesley’s Aldersgate Street experience in which he felt his heart was strangely warmed. Wesley’s Gallop paints a musical picture of John Wesley riding on horseback around the towns and villages of England, preaching the Gospel in churches, halls, fields, cottages and chapels. Chapel Prayer is a reflective piece referring to Wesley’s Chapel in City Road, London, a Methodist Church built under the direction of John Wesley. The word Liberty in the title of Liberty Fanfare refers to John Wesley’s advocacy for the abolition of slavery. He wrote, Liberty is the right of every human creature. The piece contains musical references to two well-known hymns – (i)  Amazing Grace, the words of which were written by his fellow abolitionist, friend and mentor, John Newton, as well as (ii) And can it be, the words of which were written by Charles Wesley.

COME WITH JOY is a wedding suite containing a bridesmaids' processional (REGENCY), bridal fanfare and march (SONG OF JOY), and a bright, quickly paced recessional (FESTIVE PSALM), which incorporates the melodies of the first two processionals in the B section.  The bridal fanfare and bridal march was written for our daughter's wedding and later the other two were written in complimentary keys to complete the suite.  Each piece may also be used separately, however, and do not have to be used together.  This suite answers the need of brides who wish to have new music to use for her special day.   With this suite, even though it was written as a cohesive group, the bride may choose to use as many or as few as she wishes and the bridal march with fanfare is certainly worth a consideration!An audio file of Song of Joy is included here to give you an idea of the flavor of the suite.  It is the bridal march with fanfare.  The recessional, FESTIVE PSALM, is lengthy and can accommodate large wedding parties without continuous repetition of the main theme.  There are several sections in the work, keeping the interest level high because there's no continuous repetition of one main theme.  For smaller wedding parties, where less exit music is needed, there are markings of suggested jump spots so that an entire section, or sections, can be omitted. The fact that two of the themes are taken from the previous two processionals ties the music together into an exciting cohesive unit. The music in this suite can  also be used for church or school graduations, anniversaries, service music in church settings and other occasions.Regarding difficulty, the manuals require intermediate skills, but the pedals are fairly easy.  Most organists who have experience in playing for weddings will be able to handle the techniques required for this suite.

Sister Mary Hueller (1921-2017), DMA from the Eastman School of Music, colleague of Sr. Theophane Hytrek OSF, was professor of organ, piano, and liturgical music at Alverno College (Milwaukee, Wisconsin) throughout her professional career. At various times Sister Mary chaired the Fine Arts Division, coordinated the Music Department, and served on many college committees. After Sr. Theophane Hytrek's passing in 1992, Sr. Mary succeeded her as organist at St. Joseph Chapel for several decades.  “Tribute� was written in response to Sr. Theophane Hytrek’s choral compostion  “Canticle of the Creatures� (SSAA) sung by the School Sisters of St. Francis choirs regularly for community celebrations since it was written in 1949. The choral composition will soon be published in both SSAA and SATB arrangements.“Tribute� is of intermediate difficulty but has a challenging pedal part. At the time of composition Sr. Mary had learned to use Finale software and engraved the original score herself. This editor enjoyed spending time with Sr. Mary once a week as tutor while she developed this skill. Unfortunately the original computer file is no longer available and extant copies are not of sufficient quality to publish. Dr. Masiakowski produced the following edition based on Sr. Mary’s score. Cantata 156 was written for the third Sunday after Epiphany in 1729, and was first performed on January 23 of that year. The text is by Picander, one of Bach's favorite librettists. of the four cantatas written by Bach for the feast (72, 73, 111 and 156), it was the last, and the only one scored for solo voice. Like Cantatas 73 and 111, it is a choral cantata, employing a choral melody in several movements. Cantata 156, in fact, employs two different melodies and choral texts in the second and sixth (final) movements, respectively; the second uses Machs mit mir, Gott, nach deiner Güt (Schein, 1628), which Herr, wie du willt, so schicks mit mir (Binemann, 1582) is reserved for the finale. This version of the piece was adapted for Organ along with a piano accompaniment that comes with the product.

The middle part can be jazzed up (Like I improvised in this performance) or played classic style in kwart notes as written. The trumpet switches from the tenor to the soprano and bursts out in joy! The last part is more mellow, but, of course, you can add the trumpet to spice up the piece up! A joyful piece, from my heart to yours!  Enjoy!
