This piece was made for 3 French Horns, the skill level is advanced intermediate simply because of the low range. This piece is more of an excerpt than a full length trio, it is full of intricate moving parts that fit well in an experienced ensemble. It begins in a major key regular staff octave for the 1st and 2nd parts while staying relatively low in the 3rd part staying in the range of below the staff D's and G's. As the song progresses it becomes more ominous as it takes a minor key, bringing the 3rd part lower to a 3rd octave D.

These are transposed horn parts for Lohengrin: Prelude to Act 3 (horns 1-4). The original parts switch between G, E, D and (high) A flat, sometimes in rapid succession, and are somehwat difficult to transpose, so performance should be much less stressful with these.

Rehearsal numbers are given according to the (most widely used) Breitkopf/Kalmus edition.

At the end, there are three options:
- the original ending (hinting at the bridal chorus)
