French Horn Solo - Level 4 - Digital Download SKU: A0.998872 Composed by Robert A. Howard. 21st Century,Chamber,Classical,Contemporary,Contest,Festival. Individual part. 3 pages. Robert A. Howard #6348481. Published by Robert A. Howard (A0.998872). This poignant work for solo horn is based on the Dylan Thomas poem 'Elegy (for his father)'. The series of irregular isolated phrases in the principal outer sections were actually created by setting some of the text from the aforementioned poem, as the work was originally conceived as a vocal setting. The contrasting second section (later briefly alluded to before the final passage) is faster, in 7/8 metre, and is a series of permutations on a melody created by setting initial lines from Dylan Thomas's 'In My Craft or Sullen Art'. A central section features some military-like fanfare motifs and material from a projected setting of the Gloria. The piece is highly accessible and is appropriate for higher standard horn players, including students and the more advanced.Duration: 6 minutes 00 seconds.Registered with PRS (Performing Rights Society, UK).Composer's website: www.roberthowardmusic.co.uk
