Published by Assi Rose Methods (A0.1099849). The lyrics were written by the Ukrainian poet and writer Yevhen Hrebinka . This composition was first published in 17 January 1843. The composition origin is not known, The song became part of the soundtrack of a Russian film playing at the old local Theaters. This song was re-written and published in 1910 and in 1931 by Adalgiso Ferraris in Russia. This song became a great success in the 1920s and 1930s, being also played by Albert Sandler, by Leslie Jeffries in 1939, and sung by Al Bowly  as Black Eyes in 1939 with words of Albert Mellor. This song was known before the 20th centuty, in those days many Arabic influences where mixed with the greek culture, around the time of the Ottoman (Old turkish) Empire. The copyright for this song was registered by Nicholas Roubanis but it is known that this melody already existed years before. But Roubanis probably re-composed the song in July 1927, when he released it as a record in USA. This song became widely famous in modern times once it featured in the movie: Pulp Fiction.
