Five short fanfares from the 1890 concert celebrating Nicolai Rimsky-Korsakov's twenty-year tenure as professor at the St. Petersburg Conservatory in Russia. Brilliantly scored for an orchestral brass section by two former students of Rimsky-Korsakov, the brief fanfares can highlight not only brass ensemble concerts or special ceremonies, but make a memorable concert opening for a band or orchestra brass section. This edition is scored for three B-flat trumpets with alternate C  trumpet parts, 4 horns in F, 3 trombones in the bass clef, tuba, timpani, and tenor drum.  The audio file is an actual large brass ensemble performance of the entire work and not a computer playback of the score.

This is the first movement of the scarce Quartet Nr. 3 by Wilhelm Ramsöe.  It is a little over five minutes long, but it is never dull.  This is a six-part quartet arrangement with part 2 for trumpet or F horn, and part 3 for trombone or F horn.  The tuba part easily lays well for euphonium.  Ramsöe and Ewald are the most popular writers for brass from the Romantic era.  Of the five quartets by Ramsöe, this third is the least know and heard, but who knows why.  It is delightful.  Other movements to follow.

Arranged in a 'beer keller' style it has been regularly featured by my own Ockoberfest group 'The Lagermeisters'. Suitable for any competent Intermediate group of players this is a great song to get the party up and dancing.

Dancing Queen is a Europop and disco song by the Swedish group ABBA, released as the lead single from their fourth studio album, Arrival (1976). It was written by Benny Andersson, Björn Ulvaeus and Stig Anderson. Andersson and Ulvaeus also produced the song. Dancing Queen was released as a single in Sweden on 16 August 1976, followed by a UK release and the rest of Europe a few days later.

It was a worldwide hit. It became ABBA's only number one hit in the United States, and topped the charts in Australia, Canada, Denmark, the Netherlands, Belgium, Czechoslovakia, Ireland, Mexico, New Zealand, Norway, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, the United Kingdom, West Germany and the Soviet Union. Dancing Queen also reached the top five in many other countries.

Famously used in the hit movie 'Mamma Mia' this song never fails to get audiences singing along.

Pas de Quatre (ballet music for 4 dancers) from the Giuseppi Verdi opera, Jerusalem, set for woodwind quartet (flexible instrumentation) by John Gibson. It is arranged for flute, oboe or flute 2, Bb clarinet, and bass clarinet or bassoon. There are five short ballet pieces that could be performed together or separately. Verdi and other Italian opera composers did not like to include ballet music in their operas, but if they wanted their piece to be performed in Paris, they were required to write ballet pieces. They are mostly left out of opera performances now, but the music is delightful and worth playing!

Louis Couperin (French: [lwi kupÊɛ̃]) (c. 1626 – 29 August 1661) was a French Baroque composer and performer. He was born in Chaumes-en-Brie and moved to Paris in 1650–1651 with the help of Jacques Champion de Chambonnières. Couperin worked as organist of the Church of St. Gervais in Paris and as musician at the court. He quickly became one of the most prominent Parisian musicians, establishing himself as a harpsichordist, organist, and violist, but his career was cut short by his early death at the age of thirty-five.

None of Couperin's music was published during his lifetime, but manuscript copies of some 200 pieces survive, some of them only rediscovered in the mid-20th century. The first historically important member of the Couperin family, Couperin made seminal contributions to the development of both the French organ school and French harpsichord school. His innovations included composing organ pieces for specificregistrations and inventing the genre of the unmeasured prelude for harpsichord, for which he devised a special type of notation.
