Bach, in his work Preludes and Fugues.On this occasion, Fugue No. 5 is presented in 3 voices, in arrangement for WoodWind Quartet and containing a rhythmic motif that contrasts with its legato counterpart, which gives a slight contrast that enriches the whole of the fugue as it develops the piece.The fugue offers many musical possibilities and for this arrangement, it has focused on being a pedagogical version; to teach instrumentalists how a fugue works, as well as Shostakovich's own speech. The prelude of this composition is a slow 4/4 pop feel before it moves into the main body of the song, a 12/8 blues motif. The quad chord bridge moves into a different melody with the 12/8 signature. The second bridge is two measures reminiscent of the opening slow section before it goes into a musical accented war between the instruments. The song, once again, moves into the remembrance of the slow 4 section remaining in the 12/8 time. A three measure battle returns back to the original 12/8 section.
