Fauré’s Pavane in F# minor, Op. 50 is one of the composer's best-known works.  Originally written for piano, the composer re-arranged the piece in 1887 as a version for orchestra.In addition to the composer's own versions, the piece has been arranged for a wide variety of instrumental permutations.  Here is one for semi-flexible woodwind quartet!Pavane has been classed as 'advanced intermediate', as good intonation and ensemble skills are necessary to do the piece justice.  It is a lovely piece to have in general repertoire, as well as being a popular item for weddings, anniversary gatherings or recitals.
