SKU: A0.767140

Composed by Claudio Monteverdi. Arranged by Mike Lyons. Baroque,Renaissance. Score and parts. 39 pages. Lyons Music Services #3035641. Published by Lyons Music Services (A0.767140).

A setting for 8-part brass choir of Monteverdi's beautiful and moving part song, Amor.

I recently discovered this as my choir is singing it in Rome in March 2017 and thought it might work on brass. The combination is a tad unusual, because it was originally for Canto, 2 Tenors and Bass with lute/string accompaniment, but the final result works really well.

Parts are supplied as follows:

Part 1 in Bb
Part 2 in Eb/F
Part 3 in Bb/C
Part 4 in Bb/C
Part 5 in Bb
Part 6 in Eb/F
Part 7 in Bb/C
Part 8 in Eb/C

SKU: A0.937494

Composed by Miguel Matamoros. Arranged by Jan Thalman. Contemporary. 23 pages. Jan Thalman #6439553. Published by Jan Thalman (A0.937494).

This piece was composed by the Cuban musician Miguel Matamoros around 1945. The tune was originally written with a Son rhythm, however, in this version for a saxophone quartet the rhythm is Samba, a Brazilian dance.
The use of percussion is optional. If it is not used, the player should follow these recomendations:

  • -  The first three measures of the introduction must be eliminated to start in measure four.

  • -  The percussion solo in measure 91 must be omitted

  • -  Letter G is not played, as a result, the player must move on from measure 122 to

    measure 4.
The use of percussion is optional.
