Thundersnow is descriptive of a typical snowstorm - the first section is soft, light and Christmasy, but the beauty turns to discord as an impending storm begins to materialize. A blizzard rages, complete with the growls and booms of the phenomenon of Thundersnow provided by percussion. The blizzard subsides, and we are left with the wondrous beauty of perfectly white mounds and drifts of new snow. Malleted bells and optional handchimes are used, and parts for glass or shell wind chimes, concert bass drum, suspended cymbal, thunder sheet (or thunder tube, or tam-tam), and wind machine are included.

This original composition opens with a haunting lyrical section employing LVs and fresh harmonies. An energetic and rhythmic middle section employing mallets and several techniques provides contrast before the return to the opening theme. Percussion instruments (snare drum, tom-toms, suspended cymbal, timpani and chime tree) add extra color to the sounds of the handbells, as well as increased rhythmic drive, but they are optional.  The percussion parts are included at the back of the full score.

Level 4 • This creative and varied arrangement of the French carol NOËL NOUVELET is an exciting musical option for both the Christmas and Easter seasons. The opening uses randomly malleted bells along with a freely rung melody. It is ethereal and still, suggesting the new birth of both seasons. The remainder of the piece is energetic and rhythmic, with malleted bass bells and the use of martellato, martellato-lift, and shaking. The music is further enhanced by the use of chime tree, finger cymbals, tambourine, and tenor drum.

Level 4 • This programmatic original composition will be a unique addition to the concert repertoire, as it is reminiscent of movie music. Its descriptive style tells a tale of love and loss, adventure and peril, and mystery and drama. A free, mystical opening leads into a delicate main theme in a minor key, accompanied by finger cymbals and chime tree. The opening strains provide a transition into an energetic ride in 12/8 time with rhythmic, malleted bass bells under a strong treble melody and using tambourine for rhythmic support. The bass and middle bells are then given the melody in an antiphonal style, followed by a return to the malleted bass and the upper-treble melody with the addition of a tenor drum. The section closes in great triumph but gives way to randomly malleted bells and a return to the mysterious opening strains.
