Created to insure quick success for new ringers, WORSHIP BELLS hymn trio does not include hymn melody or intricate rhythm patterns. Ringers play 'simple to count' chords for the most part. I use the color-coding method of highlighting the ringer's notes in the handbell chart and then highlighting with the same color the notes in the hymn. Each measure is numbered and if your ringer can count and follow the colors, he/she can ring! For those new to reading music, music instruction begins with identifying 1/4, 1/2, whole notes, dotted notes, repeat signs, and practicing specific rhythm patterns for each hymn. Identifying note names comes later. You'll have a great sounding handbell choir in no time, especially when you add in your piano/organ accompaniment of these hymns and a soloist, ensemble, or congregational singing! Seven pages total. I Sing the Mighty Power of God is a 51 measure arrangement for 4-5 octave handbell choir that has three contrasting verses based on the original Christian hymn. The first verse is fairly standard, except that some chord structures are used throughout the arrangement that are not the standard chords used in the original hymn. After the first verse (at the normal tempo) the tempo slows considerably, for a majestic effect, and the very lowest 4 octave bells are used for the melody line. At the same time, the chord structure here is provided by treble clef bells, from the bottom of the treble clef, through the highest note of the 5 octave range. This approach alternates with passages that are up to 5-octave unison passages. The early parts of the third verse are heavy on descant lines---sometimes descant chords instead of single-note descants, with a couple of bass runs in this verse, as well. There is a tag at the end---the last musical phrase is repeated with fuller chords at triple forte. There is a very non-standard chord, instead of the normal five-seven chord, right before the last chord. There is a brief shake on the first half of the last melody chord. This is probably about a level 2 degree of difficulty.

The third section is a fast section with complex meter, which use the materials of first and second sections, as if a man continues to grow and change, always accompanied with different emotions.

The melody shifts down an octave after the first verse, then comes back up to the upper octave, giving it a feel of the melody traveling around. Although only three octaves of bells are needed for this arrangement, it has a very robust sound. This is sure to be a pleasing number for your audience or congregation.

This delightful arrangement of the first movement of The Spring is perfect for any energetic moment, regardless of season.  Its charm comes from its quick tempo and dynamic contrasts, complete with the sounds of the spring season (perhaps add a bird whistle, rainstick, props, poem, or a nature slide show). The arrangement is for 4, 5, or 6 ringers using two or three octaves of handbells (or handchimes).  Complete assignments and performance notes are enclosed, and the piece is Level 3 when played with six ringers.  This piece may also be performed by four- or six-in-hand ensembles without tables.The piece is in rondeau form, which means that it has a recurring theme (similar to a refrain) and verses that extremely differ from one another.  Rondeau form is usually explained by letters, where A equals the recurring theme, and each other letter like B or C indicate completely differing verses.  The form then looks like this: ABACADAE etcetera. Because of its consistency, both audience and performers alike will look forward to the next time that the A theme appears. Performance time:• 3 minutes.

UPC: 749193018828.This large, original work for handbells and solo violin includes three movements, with each movement based on a quote by Mother Teresa, Mohandas Gandhi, and Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.  The first movement, entitled, Compassion, is tender and full of feeling.  The second movement, entitled Satyagraha, which is a word referring to the resistance to tyranny through mass civil disobedience, is vigorous and driving, using much martellato and mallet work.  The final movement is entitled Tribute, is steady and stately, and is reminiscent of a freedom march led by Dr. King, coming from afar and gaining more and more momentum.  This work will be an appropriate addition for any service or concert where the focus is on peace, hope, remembrance, or tribute.

UPC: 749193022108.After a short, fanfare introduction, Rejoice, Ye Pure in Heart presents the hymn tune MARION in three settings: 1. traditional 4/4 hymn form, 2. a more meditative setting in 3/4 time, with the melody in mid range, played by optional handchimes, and 3. a stately setting in 4/4 time with a flowing bass bells accompaniment. The first setting of the hymn tune could also be used, with or without treble instrument, to accompany congregational singing of this hymn. The two editions are written so they may be played together in festivals and other multiple bell choir situations.

The Power of the One is a 67 measure, 4-5 octave medley of Christian hymns whose unifying theme is the Power of the (One) God. This medley is comprised of I Sing the Mighty Power of God, Praise the Lord Who Reigns Above, Eternal Father, Strong to Save (The Navy Hymn) and He Is Able to Deliver Thee. The first two of these hymns are upbeat, and include some melody doubling into the highest octave. Those two and the last hymn make use of occasional descant lines. He Is Able to Deliver Thee is very lively, and utilizes both an occasional descant line, and (fairly fast) bass runs. In between Praise the Lord Who Reigns Above and He Is Able to Deliver Thee, you have the slower, and much more reverential Eternal Father, Strong to Save (also known as The Navy Hymn), which uses handchimes, although bells can be substituted for the chimes. This selection helps add a contrast in style, tempo and volume to the other three. At the end, there is a tag consisting of the last part of Praise the Lord Who Reigns Above at a slower tempo, and at a triple forte dynamic level, for a grandioso ending. The fast bass runs contribute to my thinking that this arrangement is probably a 3+ difficulty level.
