Handbell - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953737 Composed by COMPOSER Henry John Gauntlett, and a Traditional French Carol. Arranged by G. R. Adkison. Christian,Christmas,Sacred. Score. 4 pages. Gary Ray Adkison #30517. Published by Gary Ray Adkison (A0.953737). Song of Christmas is an arrangement for 3-4-5 octave handbell choir. It is a 56 measure Christmas carol medley. It starts with Once in Royal David's City, in the key of F. The first verse uses handchimes, although handbells can be substituted for the chimes, if desired. The second verse is louder, switches to handbells, uses fuller chords and is in the key of Bb. The last two musical phrases of this carol are repeated, grandioso. There is then a softer handchime repeat of the last phrase. Without pause, it begins a lively version of Sing We Now of Christmas in Eb. The melody alternates between handchimes and handbells. When the chimes are playing, the bells only play fills, etc. There is a brief (2 measure) passage with handbells in the key of D, then it switches back to Eb for the big ending, using only bells. The ending is half-timed, with a descending chordal descant to the martellato stinger. (Throughout the entire arrangement, handbells can substitute for handchimes.) This arrangement is probably about a level 2 degree of difficulty.

Handbell - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953730 Composed by Geistliche Kirchengesang, Henry Smart, Michael Praetorius, Thomas Helmore, and Traditional English Carol. Arranged by G. R. Adkison. Christian,Christmas,Sacred. Score. 6 pages. Gary Ray Adkison #14447. Published by Gary Ray Adkison (A0.953730). The First Christmas is an 84 measure, 4-5 octave, handbell choir medley of the Christmas carols: The First Nowell, O Come, O Come Emmanuel, Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming, and Angels from the Realms of Glory Parts of O Come, O Come Emmanuel, and Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming are scored for OPTIONAL 3 octaves of handchimes, but handbells can be substituted, if desired. Those two carol selections are reserved, reverent, soft and slow, in contrast to the first and last selections, which are much more exuberant in nature. This medley varies in tempo, volume levels, and style, throughout. Towards the end, there are tolls (swings) and a shake. It includes a brief introduction and an extended half-timed ending. Occasionally, there are descant lines and bass runs. I believe that this would be a level 2+ (2 plus) arrangement. The MP3 audio file provided is in a piano voice (patch) but suffices to demonstrate how this arrangement is generally meant to sound.

Handbell - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953722 Composed by George Frideric Handel, John Francis Wade, Phillips Brooks, and and Felix Mendelssohn. Arranged by G. R. Adkison. Christian,Christmas,Sacred. Score. 4 pages. Gary Ray Adkison #14023. Published by Gary Ray Adkison (A0.953722). Christmas Joy is a 3-4-5 octave, 58 measure, handbell choir arrangement, which is a medley of Christmas carols, including Joy to the World, O, Little Town of Bethlehem, a little bit of O Come, All Ye Faithful and the chorus to Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. I would guess that this arrangement is a level 2+ (2 plus) degree of difficulty, due primarily to the quick eighth-note bass runs in Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. It starts softly, then repeats the opening phrase (Joy to the World) twice, each time louder. The last time, which actually starts the carol, is loud and bold. This naturally contrasts with the next carol (O, Little Town of Bethlehem). The first line of O Come Let Us Adore Him forms a natural-sounding bridge to the enthusiastic chorus of Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. The very ending is half-timed, with tolls (swings). I think that this arrangement is probably a 2+ (2 plus) level of difficulty.

3, 4, or 5 octaves handbells - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: C7.CGB355 Composed by Martha Lynn Thompson and Natalie Sleeth. Advent, Christmas. With 3 octaves handchimes, Solo Inst. Score. 8 pages. Chorister's Guild - Digital #CGB355. Published by Chorister's Guild - Digital (C7.CGB355). UPC: 749193009543.3, 4 or 5 octaves with optional Bb2.Advent or General.Level 4.Everlasting Light is based on two contrasting hymns dealing with light. CONDITOR ALME SIDERUM is one of the oldest Christian hymns, whose simplicity and rhythmical flow reflect the freedom of speech. Written seven centuries later, WIE SCHON LEUCHTET is at the other end of the spectrum: measured, straight forward and fanfare-like. The introduction intersperses dramatic .ashes of light and the resulting shimmer (via the echo technique) with phrases of the chant. The chant is treated in its entirety at measure 19, and then antiphonally at measure 27 with its inversion (light reflected). The German chorale is heard at measure 40, and again in augmentation at measure 62 layered over the chant, each phrase of which is echoed (reflected) an octave lower. The piece ends with a return to the opening .ashes of light, this time the shimmering sixteenth-notes being more pronounced.

Handbell - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953721 Composed by Franz Xaver Gruber, George Frideric Handel, and and John Francis Wade. Arranged by G. R. Adkison. Christian,Sacred. Score. 5 pages. Gary Ray Adkison #13523. Published by Gary Ray Adkison (A0.953721). Joy, Ye Faithful, in This Night is a 78 measure arrangement for 4-5 octave handbell choir. It also utilizes OPTIONAL 2 octaves of handchimes . It is a medley of the Christmas carols: Joy to the World, Silent Night and O Come, All Ye Faithful. It starts out, joyfully, at a strong dynamic level, with Joy to the World. Then, it becomes soft for Silent Night, going into a CHORUS of O Come, All Ye Faithful that grows in volume to double forte, at which time the verse portion of O come, All Ye Faithful starts. At the next chorus, the dynamic progression is repeated, until the final chorus becomes triple forte at the very end. The handchimes are used simultaneously with handbells during Silent Night, but handbells can be substituted for the handchimes. That section is very slow and laid back, with its strong point being more exotic chords than the traditional carol. The first and last sections of the arrangement are faster (and louder), both with surprise key changes. The last section also features very full chords, in places, starting with the verse of O Come, All Ye Faithful. I would think that this is probably a level 2+ arrangement in difficulty---mostly because of the 16th notes in Joy to the World. The audio clip provided is in a piano voice (patch) but suffices to demonstrate how the arrangement is generally meant to sound.

3, 4, or 5 octaves handbells - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: C7.CGB949 Composed by Martha Lynn Thompson. Arranged by Martha Lynn Thompson. Christmas. With 3 or 5 octaves handchimes. Score. 8 pages. Chorister's Guild - Digital #CGB949. Published by Chorister's Guild - Digital (C7.CGB949). UPC: 749193022986.This engaging setting of the English carol, STOWEY (How Far Is it to Bethlehem) also incorporates the CRADLE SONG tune of Away in a Manger and snippets of Brahms’ Lullaby.  The first 2 stanzas are full-chord settings of the two carols with short interludes connecting the two.  The last stanza returns to How Far Is It to Bethlehem rung on handchimes beneath a descant played with mallets on suspended handbells. The use of mallets is optional.  The setting is accessible for young ringers, but also effective and enjoyable for more experienced ringers.

3, 4, or 5 octaves handbells - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: C7.CGB508 Composed by Fred Gramann. Christmas. Score. 8 pages. Chorister's Guild - Digital #CGB508. Published by Chorister's Guild - Digital (C7.CGB508). UPC: 749193012505.Beginning with a quiet treble ostinato figure inspired by the lyrics in heaven the bells are ringing, the ringing grows in intensity until it bursts forth with the first statement of the traditional English carol, Ding, Dong, Merrily on High. A second appearance of the heavenly bells is accompanied by chords using the echo technique. The carol is then combined with the 16th century Swedish tune Tempus Adest Floridum (Gentle Mary Laid Her Child; Good King Wenceslas). The heavenly bells ring one last time to conclude this joyful setting.
