Billy Joel's Grammy-Award-winning 1977 smooth-jazz hit has become an enduring standard of the soft-rock genre.  This arrangement is in the same key as the original recording, and is a faithful represention of Joel's original recording.

Accomplished composer/arranger/conductor Michael J. Glasgow created this arrangement for Velocity Handbell Ensemble, and is excited to share it with the larger handbell community via Hal Leonard's ArrangeMe program and Glasgow's publishing division, New Domain Music.

Level 5 • Tremors was commissioned for the Bellissimo ensemble of Redlands Adventist Academy. The school's proximity to the San Andreas Fault was the inspiration for this composition, which features a rumbling chromatic ostinato and intense, energized polyphony. The piece ends calmly with a shimmering glimmer of peace. An ideal concert opener, churches with advanced bell choirs will also find it a great postlude for Advent or Lent. God Is Our Refuge and Strength is an original handbell setting that references Psalm 46 It opens with a flourishing, rhythmic introduction based on material that recurs throughout the piece, offering opportunities to teach ringers rhythmic precision and musical ringing. A center section, based on the fourth verse of the Psalm, is quiet and flowing, reflecting the words, There is a river whose streams make glad the city of God. After a return to the beginning material, the piece builds to an exciting, uplifting conclusion that makes it appropriate for festive occasions in church, school and festival settings. The optional parts for flute, trumpet, SATB choir, children's choir and piano are delightful additions.
