3, 4, 5 or 6 octaves handbells with optional flute and violoncello, and optional 3, 4 or 5 octaves handchimes - Level 2+ - Digital Download SKU: C7.CGB1250 Composed by John A. Behnke. General. With optional 3, 4 or 5 octaves handchimes. Full score. 20 pages. Chorister's Guild - Digital #CGB1250. Published by Chorister's Guild - Digital (C7.CGB1250). This well-known hymn tune dates back to the Baroque period, and was used by composers like Bach and Buxtehude even before it was sung in churches with the text O God, Our Help in Ages Past. The text is about time; our fleeting time and God’s presence throughout time. Time is portrayed with a bell motive chiming the hour, a lovely countermelody, the constancy of the singing bells, and then the pealing celebratory bells for the final stanza. Besides the varied handbell techniques in the piece, the lovely additions of optional flute and cello add foundational sound and gravity to the piece. O God, our help in ages past, our hope for years to come, still be our guard while troubles last, and our eternal home! The flute and cello parts are included in the Full Score.

Handbell - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953722 Composed by George Frideric Handel, John Francis Wade, Phillips Brooks, and and Felix Mendelssohn. Arranged by G. R. Adkison. Christian,Christmas,Sacred. Score. 4 pages. Gary Ray Adkison #14023. Published by Gary Ray Adkison (A0.953722). Christmas Joy is a 3-4-5 octave, 58 measure, handbell choir arrangement, which is a medley of Christmas carols, including Joy to the World, O, Little Town of Bethlehem, a little bit of O Come, All Ye Faithful and the chorus to Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. I would guess that this arrangement is a level 2+ (2 plus) degree of difficulty, due primarily to the quick eighth-note bass runs in Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. It starts softly, then repeats the opening phrase (Joy to the World) twice, each time louder. The last time, which actually starts the carol, is loud and bold. This naturally contrasts with the next carol (O, Little Town of Bethlehem). The first line of O Come Let Us Adore Him forms a natural-sounding bridge to the enthusiastic chorus of Hark! The Herald Angels Sing. The very ending is half-timed, with tolls (swings). I think that this arrangement is probably a 2+ (2 plus) level of difficulty.

Handbell - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953721 Composed by Franz Xaver Gruber, George Frideric Handel, and and John Francis Wade. Arranged by G. R. Adkison. Christian,Sacred. Score. 5 pages. Gary Ray Adkison #13523. Published by Gary Ray Adkison (A0.953721). Joy, Ye Faithful, in This Night is a 78 measure arrangement for 4-5 octave handbell choir. It also utilizes OPTIONAL 2 octaves of handchimes . It is a medley of the Christmas carols: Joy to the World, Silent Night and O Come, All Ye Faithful. It starts out, joyfully, at a strong dynamic level, with Joy to the World. Then, it becomes soft for Silent Night, going into a CHORUS of O Come, All Ye Faithful that grows in volume to double forte, at which time the verse portion of O come, All Ye Faithful starts. At the next chorus, the dynamic progression is repeated, until the final chorus becomes triple forte at the very end. The handchimes are used simultaneously with handbells during Silent Night, but handbells can be substituted for the handchimes. That section is very slow and laid back, with its strong point being more exotic chords than the traditional carol. The first and last sections of the arrangement are faster (and louder), both with surprise key changes. The last section also features very full chords, in places, starting with the verse of O Come, All Ye Faithful. I would think that this is probably a level 2+ arrangement in difficulty---mostly because of the 16th notes in Joy to the World. The audio clip provided is in a piano voice (patch) but suffices to demonstrate how the arrangement is generally meant to sound.

Handbell - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953730 Composed by Geistliche Kirchengesang, Henry Smart, Michael Praetorius, Thomas Helmore, and Traditional English Carol. Arranged by G. R. Adkison. Christian,Christmas,Sacred. Score. 6 pages. Gary Ray Adkison #14447. Published by Gary Ray Adkison (A0.953730). The First Christmas is an 84 measure, 4-5 octave, handbell choir medley of the Christmas carols: The First Nowell, O Come, O Come Emmanuel, Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming, and Angels from the Realms of Glory Parts of O Come, O Come Emmanuel, and Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming are scored for OPTIONAL 3 octaves of handchimes, but handbells can be substituted, if desired. Those two carol selections are reserved, reverent, soft and slow, in contrast to the first and last selections, which are much more exuberant in nature. This medley varies in tempo, volume levels, and style, throughout. Towards the end, there are tolls (swings) and a shake. It includes a brief introduction and an extended half-timed ending. Occasionally, there are descant lines and bass runs. I believe that this would be a level 2+ (2 plus) arrangement. The MP3 audio file provided is in a piano voice (patch) but suffices to demonstrate how this arrangement is generally meant to sound.

Handbell - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953733 Composed by Frank M. Davis, Henry Smart, John Hughes, Robert Lowry, William B. Bradbury, and and George A. Young. Arranged by G. R. Adkison. Christian,Sacred. Score. 10 pages. Gary Ray Adkison #14705. Published by Gary Ray Adkison (A0.953733). God: Our Leader Medley is a 120 measure arrangement for 4-5 octave handbell choir and 3 octaves of OPTIONAL associated handchimes, although the handchime parts can also be played by handbells. The overall theme is the leadership of God in the life of the Christian. This is a medley of 7 Christian hymns. The first 4 are requests---requests to God to lead us. The last 3 are descriptions of God leading us (responses by God). The 1st request is presented by the handchimes playing Savior Lead Me. This is a simple, easy to play section in the key of D. Still in D, the 2nd request is Lead on, O King Eternal. After a false modulation, the 3rd request is Savior, Like a Shepherd Lead Us. This features a few bass runs. After a modulation to the key of G, the 4th request starts with Guide Me, O Thou Great Jehova. Also featuring some bass runs, it also makes use of descant lines. The 1st response, also in G, is All the Way My Savior Leads Me. This section is not in the original 3/4 time, but in 4/4 time, although near the end it reverts to the normal 3/4. It makes heavy use of fills and a brief descant line. The 2nd response is a 6/4 version of God Leads Us Along in the key of C. Again, there is a brief descant line. The last response is He Leadeth Me, also in C, that features two descant passages, and bass runs in the last two lines. After the first section of the overall arrangement, the chords used are often significantly more interesting than the chords normally used with these 7 hymns. This arrangement uses various dynamic and tempo markings, in order to achieve musical contrast, and still be true to the character of the original hymns. (The MP3 audio demonstration file provided is in a piano patch (voice), although the actual arrangement is for (and, of course, will sound better with a) handbell choir.) This arrangement is probably a level 2+ (2 plus) degree of difficulty.

Handbell - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953727 Composed by William B. Bradbury and John B. Dykes. Arranged by G. R. Adkison. Christian,Sacred. Score. 5 pages. Gary Ray Adkison #14257. Published by Gary Ray Adkison (A0.953727). Holy God Medley is a medley of the Christian hymns: He Leadeth Me, O Blessed Thought and Holy, Holy, Holy arranged for 4-5 octave handbell choirs. It starts with a two measure introduction, followed by He Leadeth Me, O Blessed Thought. This is fairly up-tempo, with a surprise modulation going into the chorus. In the chorus, there are bass runs, a brief descant line, and doubling of the melody into the high bells. There are then two verses of Holy, Holy, Holy. The first verse is slow and is in ¾ time, instead of the normal common meter. It is also soft and *very* plain, as a setup for the last verse, which is faster, and grows in volume to the end, with much fuller chords, and uses the normal common meter that the original hymn uses. There is another surprise modulation halfway through this verse. Very full chords are used, with a brief bass clef downward arpeggio in the next to last measure, to emphasize the ending. The first verse of Holy, Holy, Holy can be performed with handchimes, if desired, although the arrangement is not scored as such. The audio demonstration clip provided is in a piano voice (patch) but suffices to demonstrate how this arrangement is generally meant to sound. I believe that this is probably a 2+ (2 plus) arrangement in degree of difficulty.

Handbell - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953716 Composed by Michael Haydn, William H. Doane, and and Franklin L. Sheppard. Arranged by G. R. Adkison. Christian. Score. 5 pages. Gary Ray Adkison #12143. Published by Gary Ray Adkison (A0.953716). Worship Him is a 74 measure, 4-5 octave handbell choir arrangement, which is a medley of the Christian hymns: O Worship the King, To God Be the Glory, and This Is My Father's World. The unifying theme is worshiping God. This is a lively arrangement, meant to be a confidence builder for the handbell choir who has four or five octaves of handbells. The nature of the chord choices, runs, brief descant fills and sometimes full chords are chosen to make the arrangement pleasing to the audience and satisfying to the players, in spite of the relatively simple level of difficulty. Tolls (swings) and shakes, which are relatively easy techniques, are used to add interest. This is probably a difficulty level 2+ (2 plus) arrangement.

Handbell - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953708 Composed by Carey Bonner, Felice Giardini, Michael Haydn, and and George W. Warren. Arranged by G. R. Adkison. Christian,Sacred. Score. 7 pages. Gary Ray Adkison #2035805. Published by Gary Ray Adkison (A0.953708). Majestic God is a 4-5 octave, 110 measure medley of the Christian hymns: Come, Thou Almighty King, Praise to the Lord, the Almighty, Praise Him, Praise Him, All Ye Little Children, O Worship the King, and God of our Fathers. Within this arrangement are descant lines, doubling of the melody line, at times, and some bass runs, and triplets. It probably is a level 3 difficulty arrangement---maybe a 3+ (3 plus). There is a juxtaposition of styles, dynamic levels and tempos within this arrangement, for the sake of variety. The first verse of God of our Fathers is done rather straight-forwardly as a setup for the next verse, where the fanfare portions are significantly different from the original. There is also a fanfare tag at the end. The audio demonstration clip is in a piano voice (patch) but suffices to demonstrate how the arrangement is generally meant to sound.
