Handbell - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953737 Composed by COMPOSER Henry John Gauntlett, and a Traditional French Carol. Arranged by G. R. Adkison. Christian,Christmas,Sacred. Score. 4 pages. Gary Ray Adkison #30517. Published by Gary Ray Adkison (A0.953737). Song of Christmas is an arrangement for 3-4-5 octave handbell choir. It is a 56 measure Christmas carol medley. It starts with Once in Royal David's City, in the key of F. The first verse uses handchimes, although handbells can be substituted for the chimes, if desired. The second verse is louder, switches to handbells, uses fuller chords and is in the key of Bb. The last two musical phrases of this carol are repeated, grandioso. There is then a softer handchime repeat of the last phrase. Without pause, it begins a lively version of Sing We Now of Christmas in Eb. The melody alternates between handchimes and handbells. When the chimes are playing, the bells only play fills, etc. There is a brief (2 measure) passage with handbells in the key of D, then it switches back to Eb for the big ending, using only bells. The ending is half-timed, with a descending chordal descant to the martellato stinger. (Throughout the entire arrangement, handbells can substitute for handchimes.) This arrangement is probably about a level 2 degree of difficulty.

Handbell - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953730 Composed by Geistliche Kirchengesang, Henry Smart, Michael Praetorius, Thomas Helmore, and Traditional English Carol. Arranged by G. R. Adkison. Christian,Christmas,Sacred. Score. 6 pages. Gary Ray Adkison #14447. Published by Gary Ray Adkison (A0.953730). The First Christmas is an 84 measure, 4-5 octave, handbell choir medley of the Christmas carols: The First Nowell, O Come, O Come Emmanuel, Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming, and Angels from the Realms of Glory Parts of O Come, O Come Emmanuel, and Lo, How a Rose E’er Blooming are scored for OPTIONAL 3 octaves of handchimes, but handbells can be substituted, if desired. Those two carol selections are reserved, reverent, soft and slow, in contrast to the first and last selections, which are much more exuberant in nature. This medley varies in tempo, volume levels, and style, throughout. Towards the end, there are tolls (swings) and a shake. It includes a brief introduction and an extended half-timed ending. Occasionally, there are descant lines and bass runs. I believe that this would be a level 2+ (2 plus) arrangement. The MP3 audio file provided is in a piano voice (patch) but suffices to demonstrate how this arrangement is generally meant to sound.

Handbell - Level 2 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953727 Composed by William B. Bradbury and John B. Dykes. Arranged by G. R. Adkison. Christian,Sacred. Score. 5 pages. Gary Ray Adkison #14257. Published by Gary Ray Adkison (A0.953727). Holy God Medley is a medley of the Christian hymns: He Leadeth Me, O Blessed Thought and Holy, Holy, Holy arranged for 4-5 octave handbell choirs. It starts with a two measure introduction, followed by He Leadeth Me, O Blessed Thought. This is fairly up-tempo, with a surprise modulation going into the chorus. In the chorus, there are bass runs, a brief descant line, and doubling of the melody into the high bells. There are then two verses of Holy, Holy, Holy. The first verse is slow and is in ¾ time, instead of the normal common meter. It is also soft and *very* plain, as a setup for the last verse, which is faster, and grows in volume to the end, with much fuller chords, and uses the normal common meter that the original hymn uses. There is another surprise modulation halfway through this verse. Very full chords are used, with a brief bass clef downward arpeggio in the next to last measure, to emphasize the ending. The first verse of Holy, Holy, Holy can be performed with handchimes, if desired, although the arrangement is not scored as such. The audio demonstration clip provided is in a piano voice (patch) but suffices to demonstrate how this arrangement is generally meant to sound. I believe that this is probably a 2+ (2 plus) arrangement in degree of difficulty.

Handbell - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953736 Composed by John Bennard, John H. Stockton and Lewis E. Jones, John T. Grape, and Robert Lowry. Arranged by G. R. Adkison. Christian,Easter,Sacred. Score. 9 pages. Gary Ray Adkison #17601. Published by Gary Ray Adkison (A0.953736). The Saving Blood of Jesus is a 4-5 octave, 110 measure handbell choir arrangement, that is a medley of the Christian hymns: Nothing But the blood, Jesus Paid It All, The Old Rugged Cross, Down at the Cross, and There Is Power in the Blood. The theme of the arrangement is the blood of Jesus that was shed for us on the Cross. Three octaves of OPTIONAL handchimes (C4 through F6) are used in The Old Rugged Cross, but handbells can be substituted for the handchimes, if desired. There is a brief introduction (...No other Fount I know...). Throughout most of this arrangement, use is made of descant lines and bass runs. There are contrasting styles, tempos, key signatures and dynamic levels within. Only the subject matter remains constant. Because of the emphasis on the Crucifixion, it can also be used as Easter music. This is probably a 3+ or 4- level of difficulty. The audio clip supplied is in a piano voice (patch) but suffices to demonstrate how the arrangement is generally meant to sound.

Handbell - Level 3 - Digital Download SKU: A0.953732 Composed by Oscar Ahnfelt and Charles H. Gabriel, Walter Stillman Martin, and William Henry Monk. Arranged by G. R. Adkison. Christian,Sacred. Score. 6 pages. Gary Ray Adkison #15171. Published by Gary Ray Adkison (A0.953732). God: My Helper, Comforter, Companion, Provider, Protector is a 71 measure arrangement for 4-5 octave handbell choir, and OPTIONAL 3 octaves of handchimes. It is a medley of Christian hymns that deal with some of the attributes of God, as they relate to His followers. Specifically, it includes Abide with Me, God Will Take Care of You, Day by Day and Just When I Need Him Most. It is probably a level 3+ arrangement. The God Will Take Care of You section starts with a duet in the handchimes, with the melody line switching from treble clef to bass clef, in the verse. Of course, handbells can be used instead of handchimes, if desired. In the chorus, martellato is used in the bass clef, while there is a descant going on in the high treble clef, with the melody sandwiched in between. In the last section (Just When I Need Him Most) interesting chords, bass runs and melody line doubling, with chords filled in between the doubled melody notes, build to an ending culminating in a repeat of the last musical phrase, at a slower, more majestic tempo. The first 3 selections are more laid-back; the last is presented in a more energetic fashion.
